In China, when a man marries a woman, the most important thing is "the right match". Li Hongzhang's family produced many senior officials in the late Qing Dynasty, such as main hall, governor and governor. Naturally, their children and parents-in-law are mostly prominent families, including Zeng Guofan, Zhang Zhidong, Luo, Zhang Peilun, Guo Songtao, Sheng Xuanhuai, etc., covering important fields such as military affairs, diplomacy, westernization and industry in the late Qing Dynasty.

Li Hongzhang and Sichuan Governor Luo are children in-laws, and the eldest son Li married the Roche sisters.

Li Fangjing was originally the son of Li Zhaoqing, the sixth brother of Li Hongzhang, and was later adopted by Li Hongzhang. He served as a counsellor in the United States, a minister in Japan, and later as a British minister and the first director of the General Post Office in China.

Luo

Luo (1793—1866), a native of Huaxian County, Guangdong Province, was an important general of Xiang Army in the late Qing Dynasty. He served as governor of Hunan for ten years, assisted Zeng Guofan in governance, and hired Zuo as his chief of staff. As the governor of Sichuan, he commanded the Qing army to cut off the posterior route of Taiping Army, captured Shi Dakai alive, and was executed that year after being escorted to Chengdu. Luo, Zeng Guofan, Zuo, Li Hongzhang, Hu Linyi,,, and Shen Baozhen were also called "eight famous ministers in the late Qing Dynasty" with outstanding achievements, and the Qing court named him Prince of Taibao.

Li Hongzhang's grandson, the son of Li Jingmai, the youngest son, married Zhang's daughter. Zhang is the eldest brother of Zhang Zhidong, governor of Liangjiang River.

Li jingmai

Li Jingmai was an Austrian minister and served as a provincial judge in Jiangsu, Henan and Zhejiang. After the Revolution of 1911, he developed real estate in western Shanghai and became a famous real estate tycoon.

Zhang

Zhang (1811-1897), the cousin of Zhang Zhidong, has served as the governor of Jiangsu, the governor of Fujian, the governor of Zhejiang, the minister of war, and the official minister of war. Later, it was co-sponsored universities, Earth University, Tijen Pavilion University and Dongge University. Zhang attached himself to Empress Dowager Cixi, made suggestions to Prince Alcohol, quoted the Jiaqing murder case, executed Prince Yi and Zheng Qinwang, and beheaded them, which won the trust of Empress Dowager Cixi.

Li's daughter Li Liangying, nicknamed Li Ju, married Zhang Peilun.

Zhang peilun

Zhang Peilun, a native of Tangshan, Hebei Province, was a famous minister in the late Qing Dynasty. Li Hongzao, Pan Zuyin, Zhang Zhidong, Chen and Baoting were regarded as "clean stream" in their early years in Beijing and were famous for impeaching ministers. In the early days of the Sino-French dispute, Zhang Peilun fought the main battle many times. I heard that Eight-Nation Alliance captured Dagukou. He was short of breath and coughed up blood. Zhang Peilun and Li Juyu have a son and a daughter. Her son Zhang Zhiyi is the father of Zhang Ailing, a famous modern woman writer. Zhang Peilun is Li Hongzhang's son-in-law, and his cousin Zhang has served as the governor of Guangdong, Guangxi and Liangjiang, and has an in-laws relationship with Yuan Shikai.

Li Zhanghan, Li Hongzhang's eldest brother, married Zeng Guofan's daughter as his in-laws. Li's daughter Li married Nie, whose mother was Zeng and whose father was Zeng Guofan.

Li followed Zeng Guofan to suppress the Taiping Rebellion, and served as Minister of Guangdong, Governor of Hunan, Governor of Jiangsu, Governor of Huguang, Governor of Zhejiang, Governor of Hubei, Governor of Ministry of War, and Governor of Guangdong and Guangxi.

Nie jijun

Li's son-in-law is Nie, and Nie's father is Nie, a native of Hengyang, Hunan. Nie Jia was once known as "three generations of scholars and two generations of academicians". Nie Jijun, named Zhong Fang, is Zeng Guofan's youngest son-in-law and Li Hongzhang's right-hand man. He is a representative of the Westernization School and a national capitalist in China. He has served as Director of General Office of Jiangnan Manufacturing Bureau, Governor of Jiangsu, Governor of Jiangsu, Governor of Hubei, Governor of Anhui and Governor of Zhejiang.

Li Hongzhang's fourth brother Li Hezhang and Zeng Guofan's son are in-laws.

Li Hezhang, with a long military career, made great contributions to the imperial court. He returned to his hometown to do business, land acquisition, salt industry, tea and pawn shops, and built more than 400 Lijialou in rural areas and five mansions in Hefei. He has three sons, the second is Li Jingxi, Governor Yungui and Governor of Yunnan.

Li Hezhang's son Li Jingfu married Ceng Jize's daughter, and Ceng Jize was Zeng Guofan's second son.

Ceng Jize

Ceng Jize (1839,65438+February 7th-1890, April 12) was a famous diplomat in Qing dynasty. During the Sino-French War, he negotiated with France and took a tough stance. It also agreed with Britain on the Treaty of Merging Foreign Medicines Tax, which increased tobacco tax by more than 200 million yuan every year for the Qing Dynasty, forcing Russia to amend the treaty and recover most of Yili's territory.

Li Jingfu had a son, Li Guozhi, with a Ceng Jize girl and married Sheng Xuanhuai's granddaughter, Sheng Yuju.

Sheng Xuanhuai

Sheng Xuanhuai (1844165438+1October 4-1965438+April 27, 2006), a representative of the Westernization School in the late Qing Dynasty, was known as "the father of China industry". He used to be Shao Qing of Zhengsanpin Taichang Temple and Shao Qing of Dali Temple. Sheng Xuanhuai's father, Kang Sheng, was born a scholar, worked as an envoy and had close ties with Li Hongzhang. Under the guidance of Li Hongzhang, Sheng Xuanhuai has made great achievements, creating many "firsts" of China industries, such as China Merchants, Telegraph Bureau, Automobile Company, Trading Bank, Han Jing Railway, Iron and Steel Company, Nanyang Public School (Jiaotong University), Mining Company, Public Library and Beiyang University Hall (Tianjin University). He founded the first Red Cross Society in China and was appointed as the first president by the Qing Dynasty.

Li Zhaoqing, the sixth brother of Li Hongzhang, has four sons: Jing Fang (inherited by Zhang Hong), Jing Yi, Jing Xu and Jing Yi (inherited by Zhang Feng). Li Jingxi married Guo Songtao's daughter.

Guo Songtao

Guo Songtao (1818-1891), a native of Xiangyin, Hunan, was one of the founders of the Xiang Army. He used to be the grain storage channel of Su Song, the salt transport envoy of the Huaihe River and the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, and was recommended by the Minister of Military Affairs Wen Xiang to enter the Prime Minister's yamen. He soon became the ambassador to Britain and concurrently served as the ambassador to France. Guo Songtao advocated that China should put down the shelf of "China is superior to the country", "learn from the West" and take the road of enriching the country and strengthening the people. His thought broke through the theoretical system of "Chinese style and western use" and opened up a new source for bourgeois reform thought.

Li married his daughter Xu.

Xu (1827 ~? ), a native of Panyu, Guangdong, has served as the overseer of Fujian Road and the overseer of Houbu Road in Guangxi. He once worked in Tianjin and was highly valued by Li Hongzhang.

Li is the nephew of his son Li Hongzhang and married Duan. Li used to be the general manager of Jiangnan Manufacturing Bureau and Jinling Manufacturing Bureau, and served as the second counsellor of the United States, Spain and Peru together with Wu. A few years later, he went to Mexico and died unfortunately. Li, the son of Li, married the eldest daughter of Duan, an Anhui warlord, the prime minister of Beiyang government and the temporary ruler of the Republic of China.
