Jinan Library is a comprehensive public library located at Jingsan Road 150, which was founded in July 1953. 1986 The new building was completed on May 3 1, with a construction area of 10000 square meters. In June of the same year 1, Jinan Children's Library was established. Jinan Library and Children's Library are co-located, with a leading group and a curator in charge. Jinan Library is one of the fifteen sub-provincial public libraries in China. There are 14 departments including office, research and counseling department, editorial department, lending department, newspaper information department, ancient books and local documents department, network department, social education and training department, children's department (commonly known as children's hall), finance department, political work department, insurance department and operation department. At present, there are 96 employees, including 66 with college education or above, accounting for 9 1% of all employees. Jinan Library, as a comprehensive library, has paid attention to comprehensiveness, publicity and locality in its collection characteristics for more than 40 years. Up to now, * * * has a collection of 6,543.8+0.2 million books (pieces), including 992,000 ordinary Chinese books and 6,543.8+0,654.38+0.0 million ancient books (pieces). There are more than 200 kinds of books listed in the national rare books and bibliographies. 85,000 newspapers and periodicals; 20,000 audio-visual documents and electronic publications. Jinan Library aims to meet the needs of readers to the greatest extent, and provides readers with a variety of comprehensive services, such as registration, consulting services, readers' catalogue, general book borrowing, reading books and newspapers, reference and consultation, etc. Open all day and receive readers as usual on holidays. Openness is an important feature of Jinan Library. Since 1978, Jinan Library has been open in all directions, giving full play to the collection function of literature resources and providing readers with more convenient and efficient services. Up to now, * * * has more than 30,000 authorized readers, 800 reading seats and 420,000 readers a year. Jinan Library has made remarkable achievements in automation and network construction. Since 1997, it has taken the lead in realizing the automatic management of library business in public libraries in the province, introduced the current advanced library automation management system ILAS system (now upgraded to ILAS II), and has now opened five subsystems: interview, cataloging, circulation, continuous publishing and retrieval consultation, realizing computer network management. 1August, 1998, the multimedia electronic reading room was completed, which provided readers with a new world of reading electronic documents. Readers can read all kinds of electronic books here, search information on the Internet, retrieve the catalogue of books and periodicals, conduct self-training and study, and the required materials can be printed into books at any time. In addition, in September 2000, Jinan Library opened the DDN special line and established a website to provide readers with all-round information services. In 2002, Jinan Library's "Online Library" was completed and opened, with digital resources such as bibliographic retrieval, remote consultation, encyclopedia of life, Jinan Quanming, Jinan celebrities, Tsinghua academic journals, VIP scientific journals, Founder e-books and so on, providing services for readers and attracting many online readers. At present, Jinan Library has built a complete local area network with the speed of 100M, and 100 m optical fiber is connected to the Internet, connected with the deep map cataloging center and the Shandong Library cataloging center, and downloaded bibliographic data, thus realizing the sharing of cataloging data resources. At the same time, it is the sub-center of the national cultural information resource sharing project. Rich service contents, advanced service means and scientific management methods make Jinan Library increasingly a cultural palace loved by the broad masses of people. For this reason, Jinan Library has been commended and rewarded by its superiors for many times. It has been awarded the honorary titles of "National Civilized Library", "Golden Horse Award", "Shandong Advanced Library" and "Jinan Civilized Unit" by the Ministry of Culture, Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Jinan Municipal Government. Jinan Library is an education center for spreading scientific and cultural knowledge in Jinan, a training center for developing teenagers' intelligence and carrying out colorful children's activities, a service center for developing literature information services and realizing resource sharing, and will make due contributions to the vigorous development of two civilizations in Jinan.
