1937 12 13 After the Japanese occupied Nanjing, they set fire to Pan Palace and the municipal library, and most of the books were burned, including all the records of the gentry during the revolutionary period from the Yuan Dynasty to the late Qing Dynasty. The map of Jinling Library also retains the books of Nanjing Municipal Library.
1958 Nanjing municipal government decided to build a new city library. 1980, 10 In June, the building located at No.262 Changjiang Road was completed and opened, with an area of 7,300 square meters. Formerly known as Nanjing People's Library, it was changed to Jinling Library 1984 in June.
In 2005, the new building located at Leshan Road 158 in jianye district started construction and was put into use in 2009. The opening ceremony was held on June 8, 20 10, with an area of 3,8641m2 and a total construction area of 25125m2.
