The paper literature of the Central Library will cover all the literature categories of the library, and be equipped with a number of theme reading areas such as classic works, examination grading, new book guidance and new book recommendation by publishers, and multi-level and multi-type literature utilization spaces such as the ancient book protection center, the Republic of China Literature Center, the Xida Library and the theme training area. The central library is equipped with advanced multimedia information technology platform, RFID self-service lending and returning system, readers' self-service printing and copying equipment, drinking water equipment and digital autonomous learning center, which fully embodies the intelligent, digital and humanized characteristics of modern university libraries.
After the completion of the Central Library, the library of Southwest University (including the original libraries in the north and south areas) has reached a total area of 67,000 square meters, making it the largest library in western China.
