History of Macao Central Library
Macao is the earliest area in the Far East to develop libraries, and its first library can be traced back to the St. Paul's College Library established in 1594. 1727, the second library was established in Macao-St. Joseph's Abbey Library. 1895, the Governor of Macao, Costa, appointed a committee composed of middle school teachers to compile the National Bags Regulations, and established the first public library in Macao, namely the Macao Central Library. By 2005, there were more than 240 libraries in Macao, including 47 public libraries, which were mainly operated by the Central Library of the Cultural Bureau, the Civil Affairs Department, the Education and Youth Bureau and NGOs. If the population is 460,000, each public library needs to receive 9787.2 citizens on average, while if it is 23 square kilometers, there are two libraries per square kilometer on average.
