Introduction to the original site of Minsheng shangdu
The "village outside the village" of that year

The original site of Minsheng Shangdu was originally a shanty town between two villages on the riverside. No water, no gas, no heating. Every summer, the shanty towns are surrounded by garbage; In winter, there are ice rings in front of every house, and the stove is burned every morning. The smoke from every chimney makes people breathless. There used to be two villages near here, one called Zhushuntun and the other called Dongming Village, both of which had hundreds of villagers. Now the people's livelihood is still located in the capital, which used to be a shanty town formed spontaneously between the two villages. This shanty town has no place name, but houses built by residents themselves, including brick houses and mud houses. The wind on the river is very strong. Brick houses are better when it is windy and rainy, and mud houses are like being blown down at any time. After every heavy rain, the neighbors always repair the house when it is sunny, because the house can't stand the next storm. Over time, the master married a daughter-in-law, and the Xijia family had grandchildren. More and more houses were built and crowded together, squeezing the original passage into a narrow alley.

Because there are bungalows here, there is no place for residents to dump garbage and sewage. Many people simply throw garbage in the alley or by the river, so one garbage push after another is formed along the river. Every summer, there are many flies and mosquitoes in this shanty town, and rats run around. In winter, every household pours sewage around the ice ring. As time goes on, the ice ring is getting bigger and higher. Residents walk on the ice every day when they go home. They were careful not to slip, until the ice ring melted the next spring, year after year.

Zeng Dong was worried about burning firewood in summer and suffering from water.

The problems that plague residents' daily life are far simpler than not getting into the water. Because I live in this shanty town, I am worried that there will be no firewood in winter and water will rise in summer. Talking about the past life, the old residents here are deeply touched. Although the urban area is developing rapidly, the residents of this shanty town still live a backward life. This shanty town has no gas and heating pipes, and residents have to burn coal and firewood to cook and keep warm every day in winter. Coal is easier to handle, but firewood is hard to find. Buying a whole truck of rafts is undoubtedly a waste, so many people go to the river to collect firewood. Because firewood is used every day, it is not easy to find. Sometimes the residents here have to walk one or two kilometers to find it. Get up every morning, the room is cold, the stove is on fire, and the whole shanty town is covered with a layer of soot. In the past, Li Qun's dam was not very strong, and everyone was worried that one day the river would rise and flood the house. Therefore, every flood season in July, everyone looks at the river anxiously. If it rains, everyone's mood will be "cloudy" than the sky.
