Coated paper, also known as coated printing paper, is called coated paper in Hong Kong and other regions. It is a high-grade printing paper made of base paper coated with white paint. It is mainly used for printing the covers, illustrations, color pictures, advertisements, samples, packaging and trademarks of all kinds of exquisite commodities.
The English original name of Art Paper is art paper, which is a common name of imported products. This kind of paper was first developed by the British in the middle of19th century. White fine porcelain clay is mixed into pigment, which is evenly coated on the surface of base paper (coated on one side or both sides) to make high-grade printing paper. Because its process is like a woman smearing powder on her face, it is called art paper.
Actually, art paper was translated into art paper in China as early as 1930s. Because in Europe, when this paper was used to print beautiful famous paintings, the printing plate was corroded by copper plates. Therefore, according to the convention of naming by use, the art paper used for copper plate printing is called copper plate (printing) paper. Colleagues in the printing and papermaking industry in Chinese mainland call coated paper coated paper, not art paper.
Books made of this coated paper are called coated paper books ~
