The library is usually open from 8 am to 6 pm from Monday to Friday.
The opening hours of Nantong Library are different for different departments. Generally, it is Monday to Friday or Monday to Sunday, and the editing department, periodical collection department, ancient books department and ordinary ancient books department are closed on weekends.
The lending department is open from 8: 30 to 18: 30 from Monday to Sunday.
The reference department and the social reference reading room are open from 8: 30 to 1 1: 30 and 13: 30 to 17: 30 from Monday to Sunday.

The predecessor of Nantong Library is the Nantong Library founded by Zhang Jian, a scholar, modern industrialist and educator in the late Qing Dynasty in 19 12. It is one of the early public libraries in China.

Tonghai New Newspaper: Nantong Library has Nantong local newspapers in the Republic of China. Among them, the relatively complete one is Tonghai New Newspaper. Tonghai New Newspaper was first published on 19 13, and ceased publication on 1929.
Tonghai New Newspaper is the first bimonthly newspaper in Nantong, with editorials, orders, important news, local news, essays, advertisements and other columns and special pages. It is an indispensable document for studying Zhang Jian and Nantong's local politics, economy and culture in this period.
