Wang Jianhui's publishing research can be roughly divided into the following three aspects: book review research, editing and publishing theory research and modern publishing history research. His multi-dimensional learning method in this direction has a lot to do with his years of editing career. 1982 after graduating from university, Wang Jianhui has been engaged in editing as a scholar. According to his personal understanding, this kind of scholar editor should not only have a profound accumulation of professional knowledge in a certain subject and a certain level of research, but also become a saint with extensive knowledge, judgment and advanced consciousness in the development of academic culture. It is this self-role orientation that makes him form an eclectic and eclectic academic style. On the other hand, the hectic editing profession itself doesn't allow him to settle down and do purely academic research, so he can only squeeze out a little leisure to express his ideas in words.
Wang Jianhui wrote his thoughts and feelings into the book review, because this style of book review is suitable for his reading notes and essays, with long words and short words, and the size depends on it. Besides, the role of being an editor and a critic is the same, both of which are to identify and evaluate spiritual products; Examining books from the perspective of reviewing manuscripts is sometimes even more critical and authentic than ordinary critics. It is more convenient to turn the reading record of the book you edited into a book review with academic value. More than 70 book reviews published by Wang Jianhui in the middle and late 1980s were written one by one. Since I have been immersed in the practice of book review writing for a long time, it is a natural result to pay attention to the style and study the theory of book review. 1989, Wang Jianhui published his book review theory in relevant newspapers and periodicals, and named it "Essays on Book Review". This book is one of the few books on book review theory since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and it is also his first book that has made a name for itself in the publishing industry. A series of original ideas in the book, such as emphasizing that book review is superior to re-creation of the original work, emphasizing the cultural function of book review, and emphasizing that book review culture is an important part of the whole social culture, are refreshing to read. According to him, the book was once the main reference book for several master's and doctoral dissertations, which shows its theoretical value.
In the middle and late 1990s, Wang Jianhui devoted a great part of his energy to the study of modern publishing history. Studying historiography was his major when he was studying, and fixing historiography in the field of modern publishing history was undoubtedly related to his editing career. Years of publishing career, coupled with well-trained historical knowledge, make his research on publishing history have both practical support and historical knowledge. After reading his historical articles, it is not difficult to feel the realistic orientation of his topic selection and the theoretical thinking tension behind the plain words. No matter his macro description of modern publishing industry, such as China Publishing and Modern Civilization (see Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology No.3 1999), May 4th Movement and New Publishing (see Literature and History No.2, 2000) and Modern Publishing and Modern Education (see Editor's Friend, 2000). For example, the monographic study in Dr. Wang's thesis (see Business Culture, Commercial Press, July 2000) and the notes of 50 modern editors and publishers published in the column "Wide Angle of Publishing" are permeated with his good intentions of seeking historical and ideological resources for the unsatisfactory publishing reality. Wang Jianhui's historical research is not good at digging the original historical materials, but is better than the macro grasp and in-depth analysis of the existing historical materials. Selected Works of Wang Jianhui, 1999, published by Huazhong University of Science and Technology Press in September, is one of the Collected Works of Young Scholars in Jingchu, which contains most of his previous research results on publishing history. From this book, it is not difficult for readers to see his academic characteristics of being good at thinking.
The ancients said: "Be in its place and seek its politics." Wang Jianhui works as a front-line editor at 16, and he never hides his almost stubborn preference for this profession. It is this strong sense of "position" that makes his series of academic activities have the axis of operation. At the beginning, he was keen on writing book reviews in order to urge himself to read more and write more, so as to achieve what he called "reading helps editors" and "learning helps editors". Later, he engaged in the study of modern publishing history, especially tracing back to the past of the older generation of modern editors and publishers Dan Qing, which somewhat cast his own self-role orientation. As far as his personal editing and publishing practice is concerned, Wang Jianhui has indeed made some publishing achievements. Some books edited or planned by him have won national awards and some have been sold in the market. He did a good job in editing. He loves my house and my dog. After practice, he is keen on the research of editing theory, which can be said to be the natural result, and can also be regarded as the implementation of his theory of "editing and research learn from each other" Among the Essays of Young and Middle-aged Editors published by Olympic Press from 65438 to 0996, there is his book The Pursuit of a New Editorial View. This book brings together many rational thoughts on the social and cultural role of editors: the role orientation of editors, the understanding of new editing views, the definition of the third generation publishers, and the implementation of publishing famous brands strategy. His editing theories may be debatable, but they truly reflect his persistence, courage and passion for the new concept of editing and publishing as a publisher in the new era.
This persistence, courage and passion did not diminish slightly because he later became an official. 1997 Deputy Director of Hubei Press and Publication Bureau. In the following years, Wang Jianhui wrote a book almost every year: the personal anthology 1999 was published, the doctoral thesis "Fu Zi" was published in 2000, and the book review collection "Ideological Background: Wang Jianhui Book Review" was published in 2006+0. The above facts show that the administrative burden and busy affairs not only did not make Wang Jianhui fade out of the academic world as some scholars did, on the contrary, his experience as an official in politics made him pay more attention to broader fields and broaden his academic horizons on the basis of previous publishing and research. This is most evident in his new book published in 2002.
Like most of his works, Wang Jianhui's new book "Exploration of New Publishing Ideas" is also a collection of articles published in newspapers and periodicals on weekdays. In addition to book review and publishing history, his works also include articles on editing and publishing theory. Among them, the earliest article "Historical Literacy of Historical Editors" was written in June 1986, and the latest article "Reflections on the Publication of 100" was published in the third issue of editorial friend in 2002. Throughout this book, we can roughly understand the author's exploration track in publishing theory since the middle and late 1980s. In other words, because the articles collected by the author in this book have aroused good reflection and attention to varying degrees after publication, the academic excitement of editing and publishing theory in China in recent ten years can be touched to some extent from the time clues provided at the end of each article in this book. In this way, the book not only has its practical guiding value, but also has certain reference significance in publishing academic history.
According to the different topics discussed, the book is integrated into four series, namely, cultural thought theory, macro publishing theory, publishing work theory and editing planning theory. The discourses reflecting the new changes in Wang Jianhui's theoretical perspective mainly focus on his exposition on the macro-publishing development in China. For example, the discussion on the cultural thoughts of party and state leaders in the series of "On Cultural Thoughts"; The research on the problems, ideas and countermeasures faced by the publishing industry in China in the new century, and the thinking on the provincial economic development of the publishing industry. The untimely preface written by the author for Publishing Science since issue 1 in 2000 is also included in this book. Foreword * *11Articles all discuss the general development of China's publishing industry in the form of one issue and one topic from a macro perspective. For example, from stage to industrial integration, publishing should reflect the requirements of Theory of Three Represents Theory, the connotation of modern publishing, two development views, firmly grasp the main line of structural adjustment, take scientific and technological progress as the driving force, the fundamental starting point of publishing work, better transform publishing scientific research into productivity, and attach importance to the sustainable development and utilization of human resources in publishing industry. It is said that Wang Jianhui's essays are concise and to the point, with prominent themes and extensive discussions, which are highly praised by the older generation of publishers, Mr. Wang Yi, and some of them have been reprinted by Xinhua Digest and China Press and Publication Administration.
According to Wang Jianhui's postscript, the reason why he named his new book "Exploration of New Publishing View" is to inherit the meaning of his short story "The Pursuit of New Editing View" published in 1996. In the new book "Editorial Planning", most of the words in that little book are collected online. Judging from the author's structural arrangement of the whole book, he has a lot of emphasis on the series of Editorial Planning, and deliberately put it at the end as the finale. This, Wang Jianhui has explained very clearly in the postscript. The author's personal reading experience also agrees with this point, and thinks that this series of words can best reflect the author's keen thinking, delicate language and persistent feelings for publishing. The core idea of "Editorial Planning Theory" is that the new historical period endows a new generation of editors and publishers, that is, the third generation of publishers as Wang Jianhui said, with a new cultural and historical mission, and the way to complete the mission and realize their duties is through editing.
Planning directly participates in the cultural construction and creation of the times with the help of the output of the chief editor's thought; Editors who make a difference should combine "marriage for others" and "biography for themselves" and give birth to their own "fetus" through the "mother's belly" of others on the premise of fully respecting talents and academics; We should devote ourselves to "breaking the working state of small-scale production in editing industry", becoming "the product of socialization and informatization", having a more overall awareness, and "maximizing and radiating the social function of publishing"; We should be able to consciously introduce the laws of commodity economy into our own work practice, pay attention to two advantages, and learn to engage in publishing and cultural undertakings by economic means; We should consciously cultivate our social and activity skills, have a deep understanding of high and new technology, and have a macro grasp of the trends of publishing masters. It can also be said that it is appropriate to reflect on the past, base on reality and focus on the future, and be named "new".
Wang Jianhui's argument is not empty talk, but focuses on demonstration, which may be partly due to his long-term historical training. The new book "On Editorial Planning" series comments on the method of topic selection planning, which promotes the work of editorial department. Editorial confusion lies in academics, quality optimization: editing and revising manuscripts, being an editor first, four taboos of family planning, editing work, "Top 100": between easy and difficult. This not only increases the persuasiveness of the article, but also invisibly increases a lot of readability. The vivid examples encountered by the author in editing practice and the life experience experienced by the author in his career can be used for reference by young and middle-aged editors and publishers who are growing up and mature, and also for reference by editing teachers in colleges and universities in classroom teaching.
2002 is the 20th year that Wang Jianhui entered the publishing industry. For him, publishing such an anthology may be a commemoration, but for us, it increases the opportunity to review the past and learn new things.
