How to place books that children like to read?
After having a sister, you should cherish the time with your sister. I often read stories to my sister while feeding her. I like to let my sister choose her own books. On the one hand, the books she chose are particularly exciting to read, on the other hand, they can cultivate children's self-confidence and reading appetite.

However, I later found that children always choose those books, and some once beloved books are often left out in the cold. It is not so much a matter of children's interests as a matter of the arrangement of books. The picture below shows my bookcase before adjustment. Although children's books are concentrated in the lower two rows, the height that children can hold is obviously too crowded and there is no visual focus, so when children choose by themselves, they are used to choosing books that are easier to take.

(Above: The old picture books are densely displayed, and mother's books are interspersed with 3ys/5m. )

After moving, I adjusted the arrangement of books several times and finally found a way that suits us. It not only increases the exposure of books, but also attracts children's attention visually. Some small changes have greatly increased the frequency of active reading. Xinxin and I like it very much, and often hide in the small corner of the game room to read books.

(Above: Children can only get books if they don't fill up the bookshelf, but I left the bookshelf in the upper right and the middle right, and put the children's sticker books, duck painting books and photo books. I want the children to accompany me, so I deliberately filled the bookshelf. )

How to place books that children like to read?

1. Not full: each compartment has at most half space for children to take back.

2. Display key books: select five to ten key picture books, display the covers outward and change them regularly. Color covers are easy to attract children's attention and increase the frequency of active reading. Time-sensitive picture books, such as borrowing, seasons or festivals, can be given priority as key books, and newly bought picture books can also be quietly placed here for children to discover unexpectedly and increase the interest of book selection, just like treasure hunting.

3. Independent bookcase: Give children a bookshelf of their own, and don't mix stationery or parents' books. These are all distractions. Putting other people's things on the bookcase will naturally be more cautious and will unconsciously reduce contact. It doesn't matter if the bookcase is small, as long as you are diligent in changing bibliographies, you can achieve the same effect. A bookcase with eight squares on the second floor is enough. The first floor is full of exhibition books, and the other floor is full of other books. You can also consider buying magazine rack directly. I have seen a powerful mother make a magazine rack link with a cardboard box.

4. Creative presentation: In addition to convenience, fun is also important. For the convenience of children, the picture books are mainly placed on the lower two floors, but the height of the children has reached the top floor, and I also put some books on the upper floor. Xinxin likes to show off to me. You see, I'm tall enough to get the books here. Any reason is good, help children find the motivation to read actively.

5. Put the books on the shelf in turn to keep them fresh: As the saying goes, less is more, so it is not necessary to put all the books on the shelf. The key is not how many books are put on the shelf, but how much time children can spend reading and fall in love with reading. Put the idle books in the box and put them on the shelf every once in a while. It is best for children to see the process of putting them on the shelves. They can't wait to choose and read, and each one is as fresh and interesting as the one they just bought. But the old books should be taken off the shelf secretly, or the children will croak. )

6. Change regularly: Be sure to change the books on the bookshelf periodically or change their positions to increase the exposure of different books.

Tip teaches children to put things back:

How to teach children to put books back? In the picture book room of Xinyi Parent-child Library, the cover of the book will be made into a small sticker and posted on the bookshelf to remind children of the placement of the book. This is a good method, but it takes a lot of effort to make stickers. Usually at home, we can let children take a paper plate or a toy and put it where they take books. After reading, we can ask them to put the books back where the toys are. This method is very easy to use, even in the library.
