The school library consists of Shang Jie Campus Library, Taijiang Campus Library and four directly affiliated hospitals (First Affiliated Hospital, Second Affiliated Hospital, Union Medical College Hospital and Stomatological Hospital), with a total construction area of 28,000 square meters and a total collection of 6,543,800 books. Among them, there are 598,000 paper collections and 902,000 digital collections. At present, a collection system with the characteristics of our university has been formed, which is mainly based on modern medicine and biology, supplemented by humanities and social sciences. The school-based library1991April was identified by the Education Department of the Ministry of Health as the provincial center of the national medical library literature resource sharing network system.

The library provides digital literature information services for readers of the whole school (including readers of affiliated hospitals), and all digital resources are open online 24 hours a day. The libraries of the two campuses provide business services such as book borrowing, network maintenance, web page making, audio-visual production, document copying, remote transmission, retrieval and novelty retrieval, reference consultation, and medical literature retrieval teaching and periodical editing, publishing and distribution. At the same time, lectures for readers, on-the-job continuing education and training, characteristic database construction and academic research activities are carried out to meet the needs of readers at all levels.

Shang Jie Campus Library is the center of the school, located in Shangjie Town, Minhou County, Fuzhou City. The library building was completed in September, 2007, with a total area of 20040m2 and a total designed collection of books 1 10,000 volumes. The building is divided into three parts: office area, service area and multi-functional area. The library has six reading rooms integrating collection, reading and borrowing, which can accommodate 1200 reading seats and 256 computers for readers to use. In addition, there are 1 school history exhibition hall and 1 life science museum. The completion of Shang Jie Campus Library marks that Fujian Medical University has reached a higher level in running schools and library hardware facilities, providing a better service platform for teaching, scientific research, medical care and management, and providing a strong support for the development goal of the school to rank among the advanced ranks of similar provincial universities in China. Taijiang Campus Library is located at the southern foot of Wushan Mountain in Fuzhou. The building was completed in June 1986, with a total area of 5560m2, which is divided into office area and service area. The library has six reading rooms, which can accommodate 800 reading seats, six open-shelf stacks and 60 computers for readers to use. The libraries in the two campuses have overall planning and complementary functions. The main functions of Shang Jie Campus Library are basic teaching, scientific research and student service for the new campus. The library of Taijiang Campus is mainly oriented to clinical teaching, scientific research and student service.
