Adhering to the tenet of "reader first, service first", the library strives to provide readers with multi-type, multi-level and relatively perfect services: book lending, book reading, electronic reading, reference resource retrieval, sci-tech novelty retrieval, interlibrary loan and document delivery, degree submission in paper net, user training, document reproduction, etc. The library implements open-shelf lending in an all-round way, and the campus card is adopted between the new and old medical libraries and several other campus libraries for lending and returning. Weekly opening hours reached 105 hours, receiving more than 400,000 readers and borrowing nearly 300,000 books. In recent years, relying on abundant information resources and making full use of advanced network service platforms, libraries have developed in-depth services and continuously developed online information services. Sci-tech novelty retrieval is among the best in many appraisals by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. The users of novelty retrieval are not only our school, our province, but also many other provinces. Paper retrieval, online consultation, special topic/topic selection service, personalized service, information retrieval and push, biomedical information analysis and research, resource release, integration and navigation, subject navigation, characteristic resource construction and service, online video playback, open online book acquisition and selection system and interlibrary loan system have become important services.
Facing the future, the Medical Library of Central South University will maintain a good development trend, persist in taking readers as the center, optimize the construction structure of literature resources with the help of modern technology and scientific management, innovate the service concept, further expand the service space and change the service mode, and become a multifunctional and open modern medical professional library with important influence in China.
