Brief introduction of Austrian national library
Austrian National Library is the successor of Habsburg Royal Library, which originated from the palace library in the 4th century A.D./KLOC-0. The Habsburg royal family began to collect manuscripts and similar items. The earliest manuscript was collected by Duke albrecht III in 1368. Emperor Frederick III (reigned 1440-93) and his son Maximilian I (reigned 1493- 15 19) were keen on art, science and book collection. 1575, Hugo brotius became the first full-time librarian with a collection of 9,000 books.
