The original site of the school is located in Gulan Taishan, the cultural center of Chu State in Zhong Ying. Formerly known as Lantai Academy, it was built in the 14th year of Qing Qianlong (1749). Gulantai Mountain is famous far and near. Qu Yuan once gave lectures here, and Song Yu's "Feng Fu" was written here. Yangchun Baixue was born here, and the source of glory came from this. 1September, 905, An Lufu established An Lufu Normal School in the former Lantai Academy, and the history of Zhongxiang No.1 Middle School began. Former Commissioner the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, General Commander of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force, Zhou, former chairman of China National Cereals and Oils Import and Export Corporation, a fortune 500 company, and a national model of grassroots cadres were born here.

In July 2002, the whole school moved to its present address. The new campus is adjacent to Dakou Forest Park, a national natural scenic spot in the east, Jingyue Lake in the south, Hanjiang River in the west and Ming Xianling Mausoleum, a world cultural heritage, in the north, with 3 1 1 provincial highway in front and Changjing Railway in the back. The school covers an area of nearly 300 mu, with a static investment of over 100 million yuan. The campus has a building area of over 90,000 square meters and a green area of over 70,000 square meters.
