The Qing Dynasty was under the jurisdiction of Weihui Prefecture (Jixian County). 1949 belongs to Pingyuan province, and later merged into Henan province. 1988 abolished the county to set up a city, and only added the word "city" after Huixian, which is called "huixian city" and has been in use ever since, becoming the only city in China with the word "county" in its name.
