I. Background and purpose of the survey

In recent years, nationwide reading activities have been carried out. In the tide of national reading activities, the importance of reading for the future of teenagers is increasingly prominent. With the attention of the relevant state departments, the reading needs of primary and secondary school students have increased rapidly, and related publications have sprung up. However, in the reading of teenagers, only literary works stand out. Strengthening subject reading in primary and secondary schools has attracted the attention of the whole society, especially educators. Promoting universal reading is a concrete measure to promote universal reading in schools, and it is an inevitable need to promote school reading, expand from the original "bilingual" subjects to all subjects, establish a big reading concept, comprehensively expand students' knowledge and improve their comprehensive quality.

The purpose of this survey is to understand the difficulties faced by our school in implementing the comprehensive reading plan and the current situation of the implementation process, to understand the content of comprehensive reading and the development of students' comprehensive reading activities, to understand the reading situation of families and parents, and to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of promoting comprehensive reading, so as to pave the way for the next step of comprehensively promoting the comprehensive reading course in our school.

Second, the methods of investigation

1. The main way of this survey is to hold a forum at two levels: teachers and students to listen to teachers' opinions and suggestions on developing general reading. Understand the content and time of students' general reading and listen to students' opinions and suggestions on general reading.

2. Go deep into all grades and classes, understand the specific situation of teachers' practice and implementation in promoting general reading, and understand the way students read the bibliography, content and achievements in general reading.

3. Through the individual visits of the class teacher, we can learn about parent-child reading, family library collection, parent-child reading time, creation of reading environment, parents' understanding of the importance of reading and general reading.

Third, the analysis of the survey results

(A) the problems existing in the popularization of reading in our school.

1. Teachers' ideological understanding and attention are not enough.

Through interviews, we found that quite a few teachers fully realized the role of reading in improving students' literacy and expanding their knowledge. However, they don't pay enough attention to the implementation in teaching practice, and they don't have enough confidence that reading can improve students' grades in a short time and play a role in the teaching of other subjects. Therefore, there is a general lack of perseverance in promoting universal reading and insufficient ideological attention.

2. General reading resources are scarce.

Although our school is a newly-built campus, the teaching design equipment is generally advanced in our county. But as far as general reading is concerned, through investigation, it is found that the facilities and equipment for general reading in our school are still relatively scarce, as shown in the following:

(1) Lack of necessary reading books.

There are more than 3600 students in our school, but the number of books in our school is pitifully small, which can't meet the per capita book ratio required by provinces and cities. Although our school squeezes out some money from public funds to buy books every year, it still can't meet the rapidly growing enrollment scale. At present, books in our school are generally closed to students for various reasons.

(2) Lack of specialized reading classrooms.

Because of the expansion of teaching scale and the increase of class size, all the classrooms in our school's teaching building and office building have been put into use, and seven functional rooms in the office building have been converted into classrooms, with a huge student class. The original Chinese and English reading classrooms are gone this semester. Students can only read in the classroom, and schools can no longer provide special reading classrooms. After the school library was built, due to lack of funds, it has not been decorated and assembled so far, and students have no place to borrow books or read books in the reading room after school.

(3) Lack of necessary reading time.

Although the school offers reading classes, according to the survey, students spend less time after school, too much time doing written homework at home and less time reading. The time of a reading class in school is obviously not enough for general reading. Students lack the necessary reading time guarantee.

3. General reading has not been promoted to a course.

The general reading work in our school has just begun. Teachers in all subjects set their own reading contents according to their own teaching subjects and schedules. As far as subjects are concerned, there is a lack of integrated curriculum design. As far as the whole school is concerned, there is a lack of curriculum design that interpenetrates between disciplines and takes into account literature, science and technology and other knowledge. It seems that the reading content is arbitrary, fragmented and random.

4. There is a lack of evaluation mechanism in promoting universal reading.

Although our school has mid-term and final reading grading activities to promote general reading, there is still a lack of evaluation mechanism for general reading. How to evaluate and test the reading development of the subject and the effect of students' general reading remains to be studied.

5. The narrow concept of educational quality hinders the popularization of general reading.

Through the discussion among students, parents and teachers, we know that some parents and teachers have a narrow understanding of teaching quality, and still attach importance to students' test scores, but lack understanding of the significance and value of students' general reading, promoting students' literacy and expanding their knowledge. This narrow view of educational quality also hinders the popularization of general reading in schools to some extent.

6. General reading lacks the necessary guidance and training of reading knowledge and skills.

Our school has just put forward the concept of comprehensive reading, and some of our teachers still can't fully understand it ideologically. How to read the subject? What kind of reading knowledge and skills do we need in reading? Lack of guidance and training from both teachers and students, showing that they don't know where to start and where to focus.

7. Parents generally do not attach importance to general reading.

According to the survey, due to the limitation of parents' educational level, many parents have no reading habits, no books at home, and don't know the significance and value of general reading, not to mention setting an example in environmental construction and book preparation, and even parent-child reading, so as to promote the general reading work of students and our school.

(2) Some concrete measures to promote reading for all in our school.

Faced with a series of problems found in the investigation, our school made a reading plan through research, discussed the methods and steps to promote the implementation of the comprehensive reading course, and made many important measures for comprehensive reading.

First of all, change the concept and improve the understanding of the importance of bilingual reading.

Traditional teaching values reason over literature, and the concept of quality education requires us not only to impart scientific knowledge to students, but also to pay attention to cultivating students' humanistic quality. Reading is a window and platform for students to know the world and understand life, an armrest for students' growth and a booster for their mental maturity. Zhu Yongxin, vice chairman of Democratic Progressive Party Central Committee and a famous education expert, once said, "A person's reading history is a person's spiritual growth history". Our school has established the principle of promoting the development of campus culture through reading, invigorating the campus cultural atmosphere through reading activities, and boosting students' grades through reading teaching. Through a series of reading activities, students' comprehensive quality and humanistic quality are comprehensively improved. Let students indulge in books, immerse themselves in the sound of books, and strive to create a reading atmosphere and create a "scholarly campus".

Second, make plans to strengthen the planning of general reading.

Detailed reading promotion plans are made for each grade and each semester. The plan puts forward specific requirements for students of this grade: recommending required books, reading notes and abstract cards, specific arrangements for series of knowledge contests and activities, specific time and methods for inspection, evaluation and testing. The plan is based on a semester, and the foothold is on the implementation of each week, specifically on the daily arrangement. The school has a three-year general reading plan, which makes the reading of all grades hierarchical, coherent and holistic. The plan not only describes students' general reading ability, but also has differentiated requirements for reading in all grades, as well as specific operational activity plans and evaluation plans. It can be said that to make a plan and draw up a good plan, the reading teaching activities of teachers and students are well-founded, and the wall chart battle is also guaranteed step by step.

Third, carry out activities to create a strong reading atmosphere for the whole people.

Taking activities as the starting point to promote the smooth development of general practice reading.

1. Carry out the "Five Ones" project of Chinese reading, namely "a reading report, a handwritten newspaper appraisal, a famous story speech, a famous knowledge contest, and a reading contest (oral or written, oral recitation)"

2. Offering special reading classes. Organize the backbone teachers of two campuses to write bilingual reading teaching plans, which provides material preparation for normal and efficient bilingual teaching. Teachers are required to teach four types of reading classes: ① extracurricular reading guidance classes, such as literature guidance, classics guidance and topic guidance, to find the breakthrough and direction of students' reading; (2) Extracurricular reading exchange class, which introduces students' reading in depth in asking questions and solving problems, so as to improve reading quality; (3) Demonstration class of extracurricular reading, which guides students to show the achievements of extracurricular reading in class, share with peers, learn from each other and improve together; ④ Extracurricular reading debate class, which organizes debates according to students' different reading viewpoints and experiences, on the one hand, encourages students to gain unique personalized experience in reading, on the other hand, improves students' analytical ability and thinking level.

3. Raise students' books. Because the school library hall has not been built yet, and the number of books available for reading is insufficient, the school requires students in each class to bring their own books from home and set up a book corner in the classroom. Every class has made a book borrowing rule, and each student borrows at least one book every week, writes down reading notes and circulates them in the class. The book corner has opened up a vast world for students to study at school. For book drift, the school regularly checks and summarizes the evaluation.

4. Enrich reading methods. Our school has made a detailed reading plan and arranged an appropriate amount of reading assignments every semester. There are three main ways to read. ① Students read independently; ② Teachers and students read independently; ③ Parents read independently.

5. Read the presentation three minutes before class. According to the characteristics of each subject and the content of teaching, all disciplines in the school make a good reading exhibition plan three minutes before class, and make clear the contents and requirements of students' reading exhibition, as well as the ways and methods of exhibition. This reading exhibition has three purposes: first, to cultivate students' self-confidence and courage to speak in public; The second is to guide students to carry out subject reading in an all-round way, broaden their reading horizons and improve their subject literacy; The third is to enrich students' knowledge accumulation and consolidate their basic knowledge base in various disciplines through reading and oral or speech demonstrations.

6. Carry out "stepping on poetry" activities. In the first part of junior high school curriculum, the school is conducting a pilot project. On the way to and from school, the school is implementing the activity of "one poem a day", which makes use of students' free time on the road to let the whole class recite or recite poems together, forming a unique landscape inside and outside the campus.

7. Carry out "Poetry Reading and Creation" activities. On the basis of the interest group of "Poetry Reading and Creation" in Yongning Road Experimental School, our school established the interest group of "Poetry Reading and Creation" in Xihu Road Campus, worked out the implementation plan, set up the leading group of extracurricular activities of "Poetry Reading and Creation", defined the tutor, made the activity plan, and carried out "Poetry Creation" activities on a regular basis. It was displayed in large-scale activities such as welcoming the city's new high-quality junior high school on-site meeting, which was widely appreciated by the guests.

8. Show outstanding works. In the corridor of the teaching building in our campus, there is a column showing students' calligraphy and a column that says "I'm putting on a show". The school regularly recommends students' excellent works to the school newspapers Binhai No.1 Middle School and Boya Daily for publication, and then compiles them into the school-based textbook West Lake and Xiaohe at the end of the semester, so that students can lick the joy of success.

9. Conduct a competition. The school actively organizes all kinds of competitions at all levels to tap students' potential in many aspects. Through various activities and competitions, it comprehensively improves students' humanistic quality and enriches campus cultural life. Every semester, the school will organize students to participate in writing contest, poetry creation contest, characteristic handwritten newspaper contest, speech contest, classic reading contest, ancient poetry reading contest, English poster contest, English textbook drama, sitcom contest and other activities. Take every activity as an opportunity for students to learn, exercise and cultivate their interest, cultivate their strong interest in bilingual learning, and improve their aesthetic level and comprehensive quality.

In this way, multi-angle, multi-level and multi-form rich reading activities make teachers and students realize their reading ideas and behaviors, create a strong reading atmosphere and promote the development of reading.

Fourth, integrate into the evaluation and strive to achieve the actual effect of general reading.

Our school has made some achievements in general reading. Grade 20 18 won the first prize in the county reading competition, which depends on our evaluation of the general reading work in the usual teaching work. The results of various reading competitions in our school are included in the teacher's year-end assessment, linked to performance assessment and performance assessment. The development of various activities and the collection and arrangement of data are all included in the workload assessment. It can be said that promoting all-staff reading has become one of the routine work of junior high school in our school, and it is also an effective way to improve the quality of education and teaching and the humanistic quality of students.

Although some achievements have been made in the teaching of general reading in our school, we will further strengthen the development of general reading activities, innovate the mode of general reading activities, popularize and apply the advanced experience and practices of general reading, strengthen the research of general reading, and strive to make the overall reading work in our school reach a new level.
