Personal profile

Zhang Zongxiang (1882— 1965) is a modern scholar and a master of Chinese studies. He was famous for thinking once, and later admired Wen Tianxiang as a man. He changed his name to Zongxiang, the word Langsheng, and the name Leng Monk, and was appointed as the owner of Tieruyi Pavilion. Shi Xia Town, Haining, Zhejiang. When I was young, I studied hard with Jiang Baili, each of whom was brilliant in literary talent and enjoyed the reputation of a village. Everyone has his own contribution when he grows up. There is a saying in Shi Xia Town that "there are cold monks in literature and Jiang Baili in martial arts". Former director of Shi Jing Library after liberation, president of Xiling Printing Society, director of Zhejiang Library and deputy director of Zhejiang Literature and History Museum after the founding of the People's Republic of China.

In August 2007, Zhejiang People's Publishing House published The Biography of Zhang Zongxiang, a Master of Chinese Studies.

Cultural Charity Cultural charity is a tradition in China, and the core of culture is ethics (philosophy). Rational learning and turning people into customs are the values of cultural charity.

Professor Yang Guorong (the author of The Course of Goodness) elaborated the connotations of "world", "thing" and "thing". He believed that "world" had a comfortable "natural world" and a "real world" with unified factual value. "Things" are first related to the "real world" and closely related to people's own activities, and develop into dynamic processes and diverse forms in the "real world". "Things" enter the "real world" through "things", and the significance of charity as "things" only opens when doing (good) things.

It is related to the public welfare behavior of "Xi Huizi (Society)" with traditional characteristics in China, and it is the public welfare of the library. Take the following as an example-

Gu Yue Library in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province is the first open library in the history of China Library, and it is also the first library with the characteristics of a modern public library. Libraries in ancient wuyue were open to the outside world and had public welfare. Besides, Song Li Tower is also related to charity. Unlike Gu Yue Library, Song Li Pavilion in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province is only open to some celebrities. The reason why it is related to charity is that Song Ji Mansion (1834- 1894) of Lu Xinyuan was later bought by the Japanese at a price of 654.38 million yuan, and it was sold by Lu Xinyuan's son. It was sold because it participated in the disaster relief, and there was a big funding gap.

Yan Chen, a scholar during the Qianlong period in Tongxiang, Zhejiang Province in the Qing Dynasty, was also a philanthropist, running many schools and academies, and compiling Tongxiang county annals himself.

In the history of culture and charity in China, the spread of cultural (or intellectual) charity is beneficial to social education. They are all related to "politics, religion, culture and education". They don't stay at the material level, but combine poverty alleviation with supporting volunteers.

Mr. Zhang Zongxiang's charitable practice in the cultural field (such as library) is directly beneficial to social education, which has aroused the author's great research interest.

This photo is hung on the gate of Zhang Zongxiang Painting and Calligraphy Institute (Memorial Hall) in Haining City. It is the same size as a real person.

Zhang Zongxiang, a saint of cultural charity, is a famous librarian and calligrapher, Mr. Zhang Zongxiang. He used to be a judge of Beijing Dali University and a teacher of Tsinghua School. At the age of 29, Zhang Zongxiang and Imperial Examination were assigned to Dali University as the president and judge. It is said that Zhang Zongxiang didn't really take office as a yamen. In fact, he was hired as a geography teacher at Tsinghua University. From 65438 to 0957, Mr. Zhang donated more than 2000 books to Haining Library.

Known as "the master of calligraphy, the giant arm of literature and history", Mr. Zhang likes calligraphy. On calligraphy education: "If you want to write well, you must learn to be a man, read more books, and learn to write." This sentence profoundly expresses the original intention of "public welfare of traditional culture", which is quite enlightening for me as a public welfare actor and teacher volunteer. After Mr. Wang's death, later generations donated his former residence to Haining City, as a red corridor in Jiaxing City, and continued to contribute to the cultural and educational undertakings in China. This is in line with the nature of public welfare education advocated by Teacher Zhang.

Social undertakings that provide public goods for the benefit of others and all people and uphold the spirit of "serving the public" and "altruism" are public welfare undertakings. Therefore, it is very accurate for us to position the former director of Zhejiang Library and the president of Xiling Printing Society as charitable saints.

The name of public welfare comes from overseas, but the reality of public welfare has a very long history in China. "A scholar should not be unfaithful" appeared in The Analects of Confucius. Mr. Zhang, a former juror in Qing Dynasty, is a social entrepreneur with the character of "scholar".

195 1 year, Mr. Zhang Zongxiang was 70 years old and wrote in his diary: "People come to serve the masses, not to enjoy their rights. Learning politics must always get rid of its triteness and express its essence in order to benefit the world and benefit myself. This is the purpose of my 70-year life. Remember this on New Year's Day and leave a deep impression on future generations. "

Today, Haining Painting and Calligraphy Institute (Memorial Hall), which stands in the original site of the former residence, carries forward the spirit of Mr. Zhang, making the former residence a base for ideological and moral education for minors, a business card for public welfare culture in Haining, and an important practice base for culture, art and social work.

Mr Zhang Zongxiang is a famous calligrapher who is good at cursive writing.

Zhang Zongxiang, a learned gentleman, writes poems, copies books, collects books and prints. This is the elegant demeanor of Zhang Zongxiang, a practitioner of cultural charity. In addition, he loves orchids and cultivates them himself. In the discussion about books and art, Zhang Zongxiang, a master of literature and history, talked about many antiques, such as ceramics, jade, calligraphy and painting. Charity practice, as a gentleman's way, enriches the literature and quality of Confucian "literary theory", which refers not only to form and content, but also to proposition (theory) and action (practice).

Zhang Zongxiang is an ancient scholar and a gentle and knowledgeable gentleman. Practicing the way of a gentleman and attaching importance to cultural charity are his characteristics as a traditional good man.

The Analects of Confucius Yong Ye (chapter 1 ***28) puts forward the theory of "literary quality", and puts forward "giving to the masses" in the last chapter, which has become the most classic famous sentence of China ancient charity.

The opening of The Analects of Confucius 1 Zhang Yongye talks about "Confucius: Courage can also make the South. Zhong Gong asked his son Sang Bozi. Confucius said: But it is also simple. Zhong Gong said: It is also good to live in respect and simplicity, so as to get close to its people. What's the difference between keeping it simple and doing it simply? Confucius said, "What you say is natural. "The skill of the south is the skill of the emperor.

In chapter 16 of Eternal Night, Confucius said: "Quality is better than literature, and literature is better than history. Gentleness is a gentleman. "

At the end of chapter 26: "Zi Gong said,' What if you can give to the people and help them? "Is it kind?" Confucius said: Anyone who is kind will be holy! Yao Shun is still sick! Benevolent people want to be a man, but they want to be a man. It can be said that different people have different opinions. "

For Zhang Zongxiang, a learned gentleman, charity is not only a kind of ministry (the external expression of literature and practice), but also the cultural feelings of ancient philanthropists (the dynamic mechanism of quality and spirit). This has reference significance for the construction of contemporary charity culture.

Zhang Zongxiang

Danger and poverty when you are young, and escape when you are young.

It is difficult to catch up with the national style by keeping the carpet and not changing the study habits.

It is a blessing to be old and ignorant, to make good use of the past and not forget it.

Things have changed in ten years, and we will see Datong in spring.
