Sanya College of Hainan University was founded in 2004, formerly known as Sanya College of Hainan University. It is the first full-time undergraduate college in Sanya, the southernmost tropical coastal city of China. Its establishment marks the rapid development of private education in China. At the end of 2004, under the banner of Sanya College of Hainan University, a group of scholars who are determined to reform, innovate and start businesses in colleges and universities gathered. With the strong support of the Ministry of Education and the governments and leaders at all levels in Hainan Province, many difficulties such as tight time and heavy tasks have been overcome, and Hainan has not been hit by a major typhoon for decades. It only took about 9 months to complete the conceptual design, organization establishment, specialty setting, teacher recruitment, project approval, campus construction and equipment procurement. Sanya College of Hainan University started construction at the end of 2004 and started large-scale construction the following year. It was approved by the Ministry of Education in April 2005. The college covers an area of 3,000 mu (800 mu for the first phase). At present, the first phase has completed an investment of 250 million yuan, with a construction area of 94,500 square meters, a total investment of 45 million yuan in teaching instruments and equipment, and a collection of 6,543,800+2,000 books. Built a campus that can accommodate 4,500 students' study and life, with full-time middle-and long-term teachers 1.80, including associate senior and above titles. In 2005, 65,438+0,000 planned undergraduates were enrolled in1/provinces (cities, districts). In 2006, the national plan to recruit 3,500 undergraduates was obtained, and students were enrolled in 25 provinces (cities, districts).
In the second half of 2006, the college decided to start the second phase of the project (450 mu of land) and invest another 200 million yuan to complete the campus construction with a building area of 70,000 square meters, reaching a campus scale that can accommodate nearly 10,000 students. At present, the second phase of the college has been put into use, and the construction of the west campus of the third phase project is under intense progress. It is expected to be completed by September next year. The college will complete a total investment of 654.38 billion yuan before 2065.438+00, and build a campus accommodating about 20,000 students. Now the college is divided into east campus and north campus.
