The National Library of China, formerly known as Shi Jing Library, was established on September 9th, 19 16, and officially accepted the submission of domestic publications, marking that the National Library began to perform some functions. Liang Qichao, Cai Yuanpei, Li Siguang, Lu Xun and other famous figures in the modern history of China participated in the planning and hosting of the museum. After liberation, it was renamed as Beijing Library, and/kloc-0 was renamed as National Library with the approval of the State Council in 1998.
At present, the National Library is a public institution directly under the Ministry of Culture, and the funds for purchasing books are allocated by the state. There are various sources of literature in the National Library: first, the publishing units contribute; Second, bidding and purchasing; Third, exchange; Fourth, donation. In particular, foreign language publications are not delivered, but are basically purchased. The National Library has the largest collection of foreign language publications in China, accounting for nearly half of all collections.
The National Library of China is the National General Library, the National Bibliography Center and the National Ancient Books Protection Center. To perform the duties of collection and protection of books and documents at home and abroad, and guide and coordinate the national document protection work; To provide literature information and reference services for the central and state leading organs, social organizations and the public; Carry out research on the theory of library science and the development of library cause, and guide the national library business; Perform related cultural exchange functions, participate in IFLA and related international organizations, and carry out exchanges and cooperation with libraries at home and abroad.
Version Library is a unit under the General Administration of Press and Publication, which collects publications since the founding of New China. Due to the lag of legal system construction in China, there is no library law in China After the founding of New China, the legal basis for the National Library to collect books for submission is a submission regulation formulated by the General Administration of Press and Publication. Therefore, the General Administration of Press and Publication has established a version library.
As a national library under the Ministry of Culture, there is no effective way to require publishers under the General Administration of Press and Publication to submit their publications in a timely and safe manner, and they need to obtain contributions through the General Administration of Press and Publication. The delivery rate of all kinds of documents in the National Library is far from meeting the demand of full delivery.
Perhaps after the implementation of the Ministry system, the National Library can be integrated with the version library.
