Shandong University should be the largest. Founded in 190 1, it is a comprehensive university library with a long history, rich collections, distinctive features in universities and a leading position at home and abroad. In the course of more than 90 years' development, there are more than 30,000 rare ancient books and calligraphy and paintings on steles, and the local chronicles of Ming and Qing dynasties are well collected and quite distinctive. There are more than 2.04 million books in the collection, of which 70% are liberal arts books, especially ancient books with thread. The existing building15000m2 is divided into three sites: the library building of the new school, the branch library of the old school and the literature and information center of Run Shaw Science Museum. The reference room of each department is about 7000 square meters. The library has 1400 reading seats and 36 reference rooms.
