Extended data:

China Library Classification is a representative large-scale comprehensive classification compiled and published after the founding of the People's Republic of China, and it is the most widely used classification system in domestic libraries today.

The compilation of China Library Classification began at 197 1 and has been published in five editions. Compared with other classifications in China, China Library Classification came into being late, but it developed rapidly.

It not only systematically summarizes the compilation experience of China classification, but also absorbs the compilation theory and technology of foreign classification.

According to a certain ideological point of view, based on subject classification, combined with the contents and characteristics of books and materials, a classification table is formed according to categories.

At present, China Library Classification has been widely used in all kinds of libraries in China, and the classification number of China Library Classification is recorded in major large-scale bibliographies, retrieval publications, machine-readable databases and Chinese national standard book numbers.

The Library Classification of China adopts the mixed numbering of Chinese phonetic alphabet and Arabic numerals, with one letter representing a major category and reflecting the alphabetical order of major categories.

The disciplines subdivided under the general category are composed of Arabic numerals. In order to adapt to the development of industrial technology and the classification of this kind of literature, the two-letter classification of industrial technology is adopted.
