Song Taizong and Taizong's access to the throne was not so well-founded, so at the beginning of the People's Republic of China, in order to prevent others from misleading people by using astronomical prophecies and heretical books, creating chaos and endangering their dominant position, they ordered that such books be strictly prohibited and took measures to strictly monitor and crack down.
In addition, in order to weaken the military power of the northern minority regime more effectively, the Song government also strictly prohibited the art of war. In addition to restricting the private possession and study of civilians and soldiers, foreign envoys are not allowed to buy them, and the ban on Sun Tzu's Art of War has been raised to the same level as owning astronomical books.
From the early days of the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), Emperor Mao and successive emperors issued a ban on private collection, research and dissemination. The Criminal Law of Song Dynasty written by Mao directly quoted the relevant provisions of the later Zhou Dynasty:
? Mysterious objects, astronomical books, divination books, military books, seven-glory calendar, Taiyi formula and Lei formula are prohibited by private individuals, and offenders are only sentenced to two years (as are private astronomers). ?
In September, the fifth year of Kaibao (972), a similar imperial edict was issued: it is forbidden to keep Yuan elephant objects, astronomy, divination, seven-glory calendar, Taiyi, Leigong and Liu Rendun Jia in private, and those who have them are sent to officials. ?
Song Taizong is brother and sister, which violates the feudal patriarchal clan system. Why did he reign? Axes and candles? Mysterious. When people are dissatisfied, people are arguing. In order to prevent warlocks from taking the opportunity to make waves, Emperor Taizong took the throne and severely cracked down on the book of warlocks and peace. In November of the ninth year of Kaibao (976), Emperor Taizong wrote a letter:
Those who are familiar with astronomy and mathematics will be sent to the state, those who dare to hide will be abandoned, and those who raise funds will be rewarded with 300 thousand. The disseminator stabbed the army into exile, and the concealer killed his head and abandoned the market.
Imperial edicts have been issued one after another, which shows that the rulers' prohibition on the publication and dissemination of such books is very strict.
It is also recorded in the History of Song Dynasty:
? Xin Chou, imperial edict: folk celestial relics are banned, burned by the government, and those who hide words die. ?
In April of the third year of Jingdezhen (1006), a similar ban was reiterated. It not only lists astronomical divination books, but also makes it clear that the art of war is also prohibited, and offenders are still sentenced to death, and whistleblowers are rewarded.
Through these letters, we can see that Renzong once ordered Tian Jian Academy and Bachelor's College to clarify the specific contents of the banned books, so that people can distinguish them and make such a summary. Please note that, except Sun Wuzi's The Art of War, General History of Past Dynasties, Astronomy, Law Calendar and General Code of Five Elements, all books are forbidden? . In addition, according to the records in Volume 52 of Yuhai, a list of banned books was specially compiled for this purpose, which was divided into fourteen chapters and became a book. It's a pity that I can't see this banned book catalogue today.
Even so, we can get a glimpse of the result from the records in the Long Edition of Continuing Education as a Mirror. According to records, in the eighth year of Zong Shenxi Ning (1075), Chen Geng:
The prohibition of Fu Xiang's Book of Divination and Weeping, though traveling three thousand miles, is not due to anything, so there is no search. Therefore, it is not surprising that people are not awed by the establishment of laws and regulations. Scholars also collect legends, begging for reports from all walks of life to collect scriptures, and the book of divination will be burned or entered into the official first, and the official will burn it.
As can be seen from the above, are the laws and decrees made in the past just? Just set up? Just,? I'm not afraid? As usual, it was collected by the scholar's house, and Deng Wanjian proposed to expand the scope of the search and increase the punishment.
Since then, every dynasty has followed the rules and regulations formulated by its ancestors at the beginning of the founding of the country. But as time went on, the ban was gradually relaxed. For example, Hui Zong said July of the first year of Daguan (1 107)? Books such as astronomy were banned, but the law was slow. Therefore, the practice of possession and theft still exists.
It is worth mentioning that during the Hui Zong period, people were in dire straits because of political corruption. In order to pray for relief from suffering and seek spiritual comfort, many people study and join various secret religions. Secret religious organizations once developed rapidly throughout the country. These religious groups printed a large number of books related to this religion and widely publicized its teachings. These folk secret religions were regarded as cults at that time, and the ruling class severely cracked down on disseminators.
According to the "Song History" records:
? Left-wing lawlessness, evil words, and unforgivable things in the previous dynasty were still banned in the Song Dynasty. All the people who preach and learn the demon religion get together at night and then break up, kill and sacrifice with their husbands and so on. , there are laws to follow, very strict. Therefore, people who are treacherous and don't obey the rules can't shake the folly. Sometimes, if you do one thing, you will be defeated, which is undisciplined. ?
It can be seen that the practice of demon religion is also prohibited by law, and the ban is very strict.
At that time, there were not a few ghost worshippers in Hebei province. What else? Although it is reconstruction, will it not be reformed? It can be seen that the problem is quite serious, so the court made this order and taught the scriptures about the demon. Keep the order and get together, pay the minister and save? If there are plates or stone carvings, they will be taken back together and abandoned by officials. As for the southern roads, secret religions are also common, especially in Fujian and Zhejiang.
The most popular and influential secret religion at that time was Zoroastrianism. The Ming people attached great importance to the propaganda of words and pictures, and invented and printed many scriptures and painted Buddha statues to create public opinion and confuse the people. Therefore, the imperial court strictly ordered the collection of such Confucian classics images, and all the existing plates and stone carvings were recovered and publicly destroyed. Zoroastrianism scriptures were banned as soon as they were discovered, and they were turned over for burning within a time limit, and the founder hell to pay.
Lu You, a famous poet in the Southern Song Dynasty, also mentioned Fujian at that time. As for the carved and circulated image of the apocryphal demon? Say again:
? There are also many Zoroastrianism classics in central Fujian. Engraving, copying and fraudulent use of the rank of lieutenant colonel in Taoist scriptures. ?
This situation has aroused the concern of the upper rulers, and Lu You suggested:
? The printed copies of its scriptures make counties find their roots and burn them every day. Legislation is still in place, and anyone who paints a demon image for others, writes and publishes Zoroastrianism and other demon classics will be sentenced to one year's imprisonment to make evil disappear and steal. ?
According to Lu You, Zoroastrianism is popular in junior middle schools, and there are a lot of Zoroastrianism classics. This situation did not change in the Southern Song Dynasty, and even astronomical maps, art books and Yin-Yang forgeries, which were once banned by the imperial court, were still popular in society. Therefore, in the first year of Ning Dynasty, astronomical divination and the art of war were prohibited, which were strictly prohibited in the form of law. It can be seen that the publication ban of such books runs through the Song Dynasty.
