Development of Cambridge University Library
Early collections relied almost entirely on donations or bequests. 16 17 started purchasing, and 1662 started collecting samples submitted by the publishing house. 1709, Britain promulgated the Copyright Law, which formally stipulated that all books published in China should be sent to libraries free of charge, and the collection of books increased rapidly. King George I of England presented all the 3,000 books collected over the years to the museum. Due to the increasingly rich collection, the museum played the role of the national document preservation center in the 18 ~ 19 century. In view of the needs of school teaching and research, the library not only pays attention to the balanced development of data collection, but also focuses on humanities, followed by documents in law, science and technology. The building was built in 1934. 1982 has a collection of more than 3.6 million books, more than 40,000 kinds of publications, more than 4,000 rare books, more than 90,000 maps, and a large number of microfilms and plain films.
