Inner Mongolia Medical University is located in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is a university approved by the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the National Health and Wellness Commission of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Ministry of Education. It is also a pilot university of the "Excellent Doctoral Education and Training Program" and an engineering university of basic capacity building in universities in the central and western regions.
The school was founded in 1956, formerly known as Inner Mongolia Medical College. It is one of the earliest medical colleges established in minority areas in New China. At that time, it was under the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China and was placed under the management of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from 1958. On March 20 12, it was renamed Inner Mongolia Medical University with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
By April 2023, the school had Jinshan Campus (main campus), Xinhua Campus, Xilin Campus and Hongshankou Teaching Base, with a total area of 1.23 1.900 square meters and a total construction area of 526,900 square meters. By April, 2023, the school had a total of faculty 1627, and 966 full-time teachers, including 308 professors and 292 associate professors. The proportion of full-time teachers with master's degree or above is 93.79%.
