What is the T family?
Ding is the 46th surname in contemporary times, and Ding is the surname with the least strokes among all surnames in China. Many ethnic groups have Ding surname. However, the origin of his surname is more complicated. According to relevant historical records, there are at least five sources of Ding surname.

The first article can be found in "A Survey of Surnames", which says: "Tai Gong Jin Kui, cutting Zhou, Ding Hou did not go to court, and Ding surname began here." When Zhou Wuwang conquered Zhou, there was a warlord named Ding. However, there are no more written records about the details of this warlord named Ding.

Shi Ding's second surname comes from the Jiang Ziya family. Jiang Ziya was a great hero of the Zhou Dynasty. After his son's death, he was also named by posthumous title, the king of Zhou, and his descendants took Ding as their surname to commemorate the ancestors who were proud of him. Historical records are more detailed. "People, surnamed Jiang, were born in the public, and Sun took Ding as his surname." (See Tongzhi, A Brief History of Clans, Taking the Second Surname) "Born in the public, Sun took history as his surname." (See Yuan He's Compilation) Since the advent of this Ding surname, the diaspora has the widest territory and the largest number. In other words, for thousands of years, China's Ding surname mostly originated from this lineage. The main birthplace of this department is in Jiyang, Shandong Province today. The surname book says that "it is the inheritance of ginger and the hope of Jiyang", which is proof.

Shi Ding's third surname originated in the Three Kingdoms period. During the Three Kingdoms period, the descendants of Sun Kuang, the general of Dongwu, changed their surnames to Ding. This is what is said in the Biography of the Three Kingdoms, Wu Zhi and Sun Kuang: Sun Quan's men were negligent, causing a fire in the commissary and delaying the fighter plane. Sun Quan was furious and banned Sun Kuang's surname Sun. Sun Kuang's descendants were also forced to follow Ding's surname.

Since the Three Kingdoms period, three surnames have appeared in Ding Shi's surnames, and they have multiplied. Later, Ding's fourth and fifth surnames appeared. First, people in the western regions changed their surnames to Ding, and second, people.

In this way, there are five branches in Ding Shi, namely, Ding Hou, Ding Hou, Sun Kuang Hou, people from the western regions changed their surnames, and Qing Yu Hou * * * formed a huge Ding Shi lineup.

There are countless famous people in Shi Ding in history. In the Han Dynasty, Ding Fu, who helped Liu Bang conquer the world, was listed as one of the "eighteen-yuan feats", including Ding Gong, the Ministry of Xiang Yu, and Ding Gong, a Confucian scholar in the Eastern Han Dynasty; Ding Feng, Sun Quan's general in Shisan, and Rockett, a talented person deeply appreciated by Cao Cao, etc. There were Ding Baozhen, Ding, Ding Jing, Ding Shen, Ding Quzhong and Ding in Qing Dynasty. Among them, Ding Richang was an active figure in the Westernization Movement during Guangxu period.

It can't be said that all Ding surnames in Shandong now belong to the Jiang Ziya period, because in ancient China, the flow of population was very extensive, and there were many large-scale population migrations because of the needs of imperial construction and military affairs.

So surnames are mixed all over the country. Yunnan's specific Ding surname is most likely from the Western Regions.
