Creative background:
Pride and Prejudice is Austin's earliest work. She started writing on 1796, named First Impression, and finished it on 1797 in August. Her father was very moved after reading it, and specially gave it to Thomas Kader for him to publish, but the other party refused, which made their father and daughter very disappointed. So Jane Austen began to revise another novel, Sense and Sensibility.
After her father died in 1805, Mrs Austin moved to Southampton with Jane and her sister Cassandra. It was not until 1809 that Jane Austen settled in her brother Edward's Hampson Manor in J?tunheimr City that she began to write seriously again. After the revision of Sense and Sensibility, she published a book at her own expense, which sold well. Therefore, she rewrote First Impression and renamed it Pride and Prejudice.
