When You Gaze into the Abyss —— A Summary of the Series of Psychological Crimes
When you look into the abyss, the abyss looks into you.

-Nietzsche

I watched psychological crime with my mother yesterday (fortunately, we are all suspense reasoning lovers). Generally speaking, there are surprises and regrets, but as a suspense film, psychological crime is at least qualified.

Aside from its various injuries in professional theory and character setting, I want to make a small comparison with the original and the same online drama from an adaptation point of view. Let's not make a blunt comparison between the three works (they are originally different types of works), but just talk about my different feelings about these three works with the same respect.

I don't want to be pedantic, I just want to speak my mind.

Let's start with the original.

As luck would have it, three years ago in the summer, I found a book "Psychological Crime" with worn corners from the bottom shelf in the corner of the library. Portrait I want to be ashamed. What attracted me to open this book at first was not its name, nor its author (unfortunately, Mr. Remy was not famous at that time), but my personal indiscriminate exploration of this kind of novel. Now I think I should be grateful for this habit, so that I didn't miss this wonderful work.

I still remember those details. The night I found it, I was preparing to review with the horse. But in the hours from when I opened the first page of the portrait to when I closed the last page, I completely forgot everything in reality. I became Fang Mu, a young man with a mysterious past, a genius with trauma in his heart.

There is a knife under his pillow.

Knife, soldiers also; Soldiers, murder weapons. The so-called murder weapon can hurt people as well as themselves.

The plot is unfolded in such a mysterious and strange atmosphere, with a crisp drum rhythm. There is no doubt that Mr. Remy's writing is very realistic and it is easy for people to fall into it. I think this should be attributed to his professionalism and personal experience. The details in his works are true and rigorous, and the characters in his works have three-dimensional and full psychological descriptions. Of course, as a criminal psychology teacher, his writing style is inevitably dull, but this will never prevent his rigorous logic and wonderful suspense setting from shining.

Later, I read the whole series of five books one after another and participated in the changes and growth of the square wood. This process is both gratifying and painful, just like our own growth. Each of us is growing up, learning something and losing something. For the other wood, he learned to face darkness and humanity, but he also lost the right to live in the sun.

For the purpose of Amway, I won't elaborate on the ending, leaving it to everyone to feel the pleasure of diaosi.

Let's talk about online drama.

At first, I watched the online drama with the mentality of supporting the original work, but I have to admit that the online drama "Psychological Crime" can no longer be simply described as the movie version of the original work, but really has its own soul and uniqueness beyond the original work.

If Mr. Remy's writing pays more attention to academic rationality and reasoning process and the problems of the case itself, then the interpretation of online drama pays more attention to the exploration of human nature and cuts in from a more emotional side. I think this adaptation is reasonable. After all, the carrier of the works is different, and the expression with light and shadow as the medium itself is easier to impress people's right hemisphere and stimulate emotions.

The online drama has integrated and adapted the first two parts of the original work, and both Fang Mu and Tai Wei have added new interpretations, which also makes the role of Chen truly and fantastically unique. Chen Ruoxuan, the actor of Fang Mu in the play, was still a very strange actor at that time, but his performance surprised me. Although it is not completely in tune with the characters in the original work, it is also very special. Fang Mu has a high degree of inexperience and anxious struggle in the dark, which is all shown by him. For Fang Mu in the play, he even has his own soul.

In the play, the interaction between Fang Mu and Qiu is also a highlight, and you can feel the intention of the creative team. After all, the whole online drama is playing emotional cards, and brotherly lines are also necessary. I didn't find these sparks when I read the original, but it is precisely because of this that online drama has its own charm.

Finally, talk about movies.

To tell you the truth, I was very upset before going to the movies. First, the adaptation of the story is very drastic from various versions of the trailer, and second, the casting is controversial, which is a sweat for the starring actors.

Let's talk about the first aspect. In fact, my tolerance for adaptation is not low. As long as the adaptation is good and reasonable, the derivative works can have their own new soul, which is as subtle as being completely loyal to the original. What's more, words and pictures can't be completely compared. It is almost an impossible task to completely move what words can express to the screen, and sometimes some adjustments need to be made.

Helpless raw powder is often very picky, but persistence and paranoia are sometimes the difference. Some friends who claim to be the original party can't tolerate any changes in derivative works, and often yell at the adapted works and kill them. But the word "IP adaptation" (or verb) itself has revealed everything, buying adaptation rights and selling adaptation works. There is nothing wrong with adapting the original. Of course, the premise is that the core humanistic connotation and value standpoint of the original work are retained after adaptation, and the ideological essence of the work is expressed, so that it can be said that the original work is truly respected and it is a really good adaptation.

So I watched the movie with a feeling of anxiety and tolerance. There are some highlights and failures in the evaluation of the adaptation of the plot, but it is generally qualified. The highlight is that the film twisted several complicated stories in the original book into a main line, and the cause and effect were explained in just over an hour, and the plot was very substantial. But it is precisely because I want to talk about too many things that many places seem to be hasty and unclear. People's design and spiritual portrayal are also badly damaged. Talking about this is too long. I guess everyone has no patience to finish reading it, so I won't say much.

For the second aspect, whether I am grass powder or not, even if I am a pure passer-by, I will never spray it first without looking at the work. The reason why we sweat for the hero is because too many people look at the so-called "small fresh meat" with labels and colored glasses. Let's not say whether they are small fresh meat at the age of 30. Even if their acting skills are really immature now, there is still an acting school that has not come from youth. In my opinion, it is irrational and ridiculous to start spraying maliciously out of an unknown state of mind without reading the works carefully.

We can evaluate a person, but we should also give him time and space to grow up. If we don't even have this tolerance, there will be too many people in the world who need to spray, and I'm afraid we can't finish spraying until we die. When we calm down and evaluate people and things with the mentality of adults, we will find that great achievements are commendable and it is worth encouraging to move forward step by step. What we should condemn is not to advance under pressure, but to get something for nothing and exist in name only.

Of course, after watching the movie, I no longer worry about this problem. Liao Yingdi's acting skills are self-evident, while Mr. Li is not stage fright at all. Laugh when you cry, have smart eyebrows when you are proud, and clear tears when you are afraid. I saw the square wood, not the actors themselves, that's enough.

Compared with the original work, the logic of the film is eclipsed, and compared with the online drama, the narrative of the film is hasty. But all these do not prevent movies from having their own bright colors, stories and thoughts. Every thoughtful work deserves respect, and it is not just one family that can say whether it is good or not. No matter which role it is, everyone has a different understanding in his heart, so the original or adaptation is just to express the role in his heart, that's all.

Finally, I borrow a famous saying mentioned in the online drama to express my understanding and love for the whole series of psychological crimes.

Nietzsche said, "When you stare into the abyss, the abyss also stares at you." Every character in psychological crime is like this. Both Fang Mu and Qiu are fighting the darkest side of human nature and their own hearts. They are fighting against the haze of the outside world and getting rid of their own inner haze; They fight evil, but they should also be careful that they fall into evil.

So are we? Everyone has his own psychological crime. We can't avoid contact with darkness, but we can arm our minds, out of the dark.

I hope that people as miserable as Fang Mu will always exist only in literary works, and that people as persistent and fearless as Fang Mu will always stand in the sun and smile.

I hope we are all the latter.
