Hami is a typical temperate continental arid climate. The Tianshan Mountains run through 400 kilometers from east to west, forming two different natural environment areas: Balikun and Yiwu counties in the north of the mountain have vast grasslands, cool and pleasant summers, excellent ice and snow in winter and beautiful natural scenery, which are important animal husbandry production bases and tourist attractions; Hami basin in Shannan is an important producing area of Hami melon and Hami jujube because of its drought, little rain, large temperature difference between day and night and long sunshine time.

Hami is a typical temperate continental climate, with cold and dry winter, windy and changeable spring, high temperature and little rain in summer, annual average precipitation of 33.8 mm, large temperature difference between day and night, average daily range 14.8℃, extreme maximum temperature of 43℃, extreme minimum temperature of -32℃ and average frost-free period 182 days. Dry air, good atmospheric transparency, less clouds and rich light energy resources. The annual total solar radiation is 144.3- 159.8 kcal/cm2, which is one of the regions with superior light energy resources in China, with abundant sunshine, and the annual sunshine hours are 3303.4-3549.4 hours, which is one of the regions with the largest sunshine hours in China.
