Hubei University of Commerce and Trade is located in Wuhan, Hubei Province, near the South Lake, and in the center of Wuhan Optics Valley. It is an ordinary undergraduate college with full-time undergraduate and junior college education approved by the Ministry of Education.

The school's predecessor can be traced back to Wuhan Foreign Affairs School, which was founded in 1995, and later renamed as Business College of Hubei University of Technology and Business College of Hubei University of Technology.
