This university was established at the initiative of Steven Muller, President of Johns Hopkins University, and Kuang Yaming, President of Nanjing University. Its mission is to train senior professionals engaged in China, the United States and international affairs. Since then, the China-US center project has received strong support from the Chinese and American governments. The report on the establishment of this center was successfully approved by China's four deputy prime ministers, Wan Li, Fang Yi, Yao Yilin and Ji Pengfei. 1In the spring of 982, George Bush, then vice president of the United States, met with a delegation from Nanjing University at the White House and expressed his willingness to further promote the preparation of the China-US Center. 1985 On the eve of the first batch of students coming to the China-US Center, Vice President Bush sent a personal letter to Nanjing University. The letter reads: "Congratulations to you and Hopkins University for the great progress you have made in establishing the Sino-American Cultural Research Center in Nanjing. This is the most exciting and pioneering page in the ongoing teaching activities in our two countries. " The experience of the center will provide them with an important opportunity to deepen their understanding of culture and enrich their academic background on topics related to international relations. Our ultimate goal is that one day, the US Secretary of State and Foreign Minister China will find that they both graduated from Hopkins University, the Sino-American Cultural Research Center of Nanjing University. A long-term goal of the center is to cultivate a rich environment for advanced academic research and communicate with China and international students and teachers through daily society. This practice will have an important impact on the personal development of the youth of the two countries, which is unparalleled in politics, business and the whole society. With the development of Sino-US relations, expanding the campus is a sign of the times. In 2006, the Center for Sino-American Cultural Studies of Johns Hopkins University invested US$ 2,654,380,000 to expand the most advanced conference facilities, classrooms and a two-story library. The completion of the new building coincides with one or two years of international study for master's degree to supplement the existing certificate courses. Nanjing Center of Hopkins University is the only joint academic program authorized to provide master's degree, which is fully recognized in China and the United States. Today, under the leadership of President Jun Chen of Johns Hopkins University and President of Nanjing University, the development momentum of China-US Center is still strong. Over the past 20 years, China-US Center has cultivated a large number of interdisciplinary and compound foreign-related talents by using its special resource advantages. More than 1700 alumni graduated from the center are active in various departments such as governments, enterprises, universities, scientific research institutions, media and non-governmental organizations in China and the United States and around the world. Among them are senior American diplomats in China, presidents of multinational companies and internationally renowned scholars.
