How to improve the utilization ratio of books in our library
Liu Jianhua, Information Technology Group 1. Do a good job in purchasing and improve the quality of books purchased. The school library is the second classroom for students, a place for students to acquire knowledge, broaden their horizons and cultivate their sentiments, and an important place for scientific research in school education and teaching. As the spiritual food for readers, the quality of library books directly affects readers. So when we buy books, we must ensure good quality. Buying books should be both feasible and selective, and targeted and practical. While selecting a certain number of teaching reference books and review materials related to students, it also provides students with some political, ideological and scientific extracurricular reading materials and some literary masterpieces that are conducive to the healthy development of students' body and mind. In addition, we also eliminate those documents with outdated versions, outdated contents and serious damage and supplement them in time to keep the collection in the best condition, thus providing a certain number and quality of books for improving students' quality education. At the same time, we also keep in touch with teachers to understand their needs. Establish a mode of combining centralized procurement with decentralized procurement. It is to take advantage of the opportunity of teachers in our school to study, inspect, visit and attend classes, first buy books with strong forward-looking and theoretical education and teaching, and then report to relevant leaders after returning to school. Second, shorten the processing time and improve the circulation speed of books. After the new book arrives at the library, it should be circulated as soon as possible to meet the readers, which requires shortening the processing time as much as possible. Starting from 1999, our school introduced a relatively advanced library management system at that time, and realized the computer automatic management of the library earlier. Microcomputer recording replaces manual operation, which greatly shortens the process of book cataloging. When processing, we carry out one-stop operation. One person unpacks the package and gives the classification number, one person stamps the collection stamp and prints the login number, one person pastes the white label, color label, magnetic stripe and bar code, and one person is responsible for cataloging. This responsibility, assembly line, has greatly accelerated the speed of new books being put on shelves. In addition, we changed the previous practice and changed the description of a large number of books to scattered description. The specific method is to divide the books that need to be recorded into several copies, that is, take 30 kinds of books as a batch, record them first and then circulate them. Then record another batch of books ... while processing new books, there are always new books that can be put on the shelves, which greatly shortens the book processing time. Third, active publicity, widely known. We use various channels and forms to publicize the library's new book information, change passive service into active service, and find people for books. Since the opening of the school campus network, teachers and students can browse and query online. Taking this opportunity, we will publish the information of the library on the Internet in time, so that everyone can keep abreast of the latest developments of the library. In order to facilitate readers to find the new books they need quickly and conveniently, our library has also set up a new book shelf, and put the processed new books on this shelf in time for readers to borrow. While setting up new bookshelves, we also set up ordinary bookshelves to put books with high student borrowing rate on the shelves respectively. Because we have adopted flexible shelving methods and our all-weather borrowing time, we have met the needs of different readers and greatly improved the utilization rate of books. Fourth, establish an incentive mechanism to stimulate students' reading enthusiasm. In my opinion, the school library can commend and reward those students who are enthusiastic about library work, love reading and borrow a lot. Through the selection of "Top Ten Readers" and "Enthusiastic Readers", ten students with the highest borrowing volume are selected for commendation every year, and their photos and deeds are posted on the library wall, which is not conducive to their higher reading enthusiasm than before. Every reader who walks into the library will follow this example. In addition, the method of integral system can be adopted, that is, when the accumulated borrowing amount reaches a certain standard, it will be increased from one certificate to two certificates, and so on, so as to encourage students to read more. The library is people-oriented, educates people with books, and strives to create a group reading atmosphere of "reading more, reading better" and "everyone enters the library", which is helpful to stimulate students' enthusiasm for going to the library, form a good reading atmosphere, make better use of library resources and promote the improvement of book circulation rate.
