Brief Table of China Library Classification
Call number composition
Except for the "dense stacks" on the first floor, all other documents are borrowed on the open shelf (the documents on the sixth floor can only be read internally, not borrowed). Chinese documents are collected and put on shelves according to China Library Classification (hereinafter referred to as Chinese Library Classification), and a one-stop service mode of "borrowing and lending in one" is implemented.
The distribution of the collected documents is as follows: (If readers have any questions about finding books, please refer to "Frequently Asked Questions in the Borrowing Area")

Specific steps to find a book:
1. On-line query: According to the need of searching books' related information, the collection catalog system of the library homepage can query according to the subject, title, author, keywords and other ways, so as to check and determine the collection of books, such as where the collection place is, whether the searched books are on the shelves, whether they are reserved or borrowed. Some books marked "Cataloging" are not in the lending area at present.
Second, book classification retrieval: according to the book title and book retrieval number of the selected book, first determine the borrowing area (that is, the collection location), and then go to the specific bookshelf to find it. Call number, also known as shelving number, is a number identification indicating the position of a book in the whole book organization, which corresponds to the specific shelves in the stacks one by one. The call number consists of classification number and book number (category number and author number), which unifies the catalogue organization and book shelving order.
1. Ordering of call numbers on shelves:
The steps to determine the order of different call numbers are as follows: first, compare the classification numbers, which should be aligned, that is, compare the first-class classification numbers first, then compare the second-class classification numbers when the first-class classification numbers are the same, and so on; If the classification numbers are the same, compare the author numbers.
(1) To find books according to the call number, you must first look at the letters in front of the classification number (in the order of 26 letters);
(2) If the letters are the same, look at the first digit after the letters (numbers are arranged from small to large);
(3) if the first digit is the same, continue to look at the size of the second digit, and so on;
(4) Pay attention to the size of the same number, not the size of the whole number. For example, S26 should be before S6. Because the first digits of the two classification numbers are 2 and 6 respectively, 2 is less than 6;
⑤ Classification and shelving, with "-"first and "."behind;
⑥ The classification numbers are exactly the same, and then look at the author numbers (in alphabetical order). The author number is the same number. Compared with the youngest one, the author number accounts for three digits at most. Please refer to Figure 1. These books are arranged from left to right.

In addition, the classification call number of back issues in our library is: classification number/species number.
For example: S5/6, R5/3. "6" and "3" are the number of species, and journals of the same classification are arranged according to the number of species.
Readers have mastered the knowledge of "call number", and if they want to find the books they need, they must continue to learn the book shelving methods in the library.
2. The shelving order of the borrowing area:
Each row of bookshelves has a bookshelf label. Facing the bookshelf, according to the instructions of the bookshelf label, lift the bookshelf with your left hand and number the books from left to right from small to large. The concept displayed on the shelf label is an interval. The starting number represents the first book in the line, from small to large, and gradually transitions to the last shelf, and the ending number is the last book on the shelf. The bent frame is connected with the bent frame in an "S" shape. The small shelves are connected from top to bottom. As shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3:
Figure 2 The order of the books on each shelf
Fig. 3 Shelving order of books in the whole borrowing area
3. Example: Find the book "Principles of Computer Organization"
First of all, online inquiry: the book has the following information through the title inquiry: ① the call number is TP 303-43/z13; ② Collection: 5 volumes in total; ③ Collection location: computer lending area; ④ Status in the museum: All of them are in the museum.
Starting from the first shelf label, we can quickly find the whole shelf space according to the guide of the shelf label, then determine the roughly corresponding small shelf according to the call number, and then find the corresponding books, so that our search scope can be gradually narrowed and finally find the books we need.
Mastering the correct retrieval method will help readers find the books they need smoothly and quickly. If readers need help in finding books, they can contact libinfo@ 163.com directly or by email, and the staff will give feedback as soon as possible.
Attachment: Answers to Frequently Asked Questions in Borrowing Area
1. Why can't the books found on the system be found in the lending area?
A: Please check the following:
① Is the collection place correct?
② Whether the collection status of books is "in the library";
③ Is the call number copied correctly?
2. Why does the system show that the books in the library are not actually on the shelves?
A: It is caused by the following reasons.
The readers in the museum are reading this book;
② The reader didn't find the correct framework;
③ Books have been lost;
(4) Books are returned, not put on shelves. The returned books or books read by the staff must be sorted out before they can be put on the shelves, and there is a certain time lag;
The book is broken and is being repaired.
What should I do if I can't find this book in the library?
A: Please register the books urgently needed by readers in the guest book and fill in the effective contact information in detail. The staff will help find it for a week (once every morning), and will put it back in the correct position immediately after finding it, and inform the readers at the same time. If we can't find the book, we will reply in the guest book without informing me. Please pay attention to the reply on the guest book.
