Nanjing
The ancient gardens in Nanjing have a glorious chapter, among which there are many royal gardens in the Six Dynasties and mansions in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which are exquisite in gardening art and famous in ancient and modern times. Due to many wars in the south of the Yangtze River, Nanjing Xuanwu Lake has become the only remaining royal garden in the south of the Yangtze River in China. Exhibition Garden, Xuyuan Garden and Yuyuan Garden are well-preserved gardens in the south of the Yangtze River.
There are few private gardens in Nanjing Due to improper protection, they have long since disappeared. The main representatives are Kuaiyi Garden, Lotus Garden, Mid-Levels Garden, City Hidden Garden, Kunshan Garden and Keyuan Garden.
Kuaiyuan, the former residence of Amin dramatist Xu Lin, is located on the west side of South Hutong in the old city. "Chronicle of Dongcheng" wrote: "Although the Qing Dynasty was abandoned as a site of A Qiu, ducks were full of peaches and willows in spring, and the locals still called Xiaoxihu." At the same time, Ming Wuzong lived in Kuaiyuan during his two southern tours, which also made people yearn for the beautiful scenery of Kuaiyuan. Kuaiyuan generally declined in the late Qing Dynasty, especially in the Republic of China, and was later converted into a residential building.
Lianyuan, the former residence of Jiao Hong, a Nanjing scholar in Ming Dynasty, is located in Jiaozhuangyuan Lane near Beimen Bridge, which is now Tongren Lane. Jiao Hong, known as Mr Lianyuan, is knowledgeable. 1602, Matteo Ricci, an Italian, came to China to preach, made friends with famous scholars, and visited Jiao Hong in Jiaozhi prefecture. 1992, Jiao Hong's former residence was listed as a municipal cultural relics protection unit.
Banshan Park is located near Qingxi Road, Beitangtang, Zhongshan Gate, Nanjing, and is now in the courtyard of the Naval Command College. This place is seven miles east of the city, seven miles away from Zijin Mountain, just halfway, hence the name "Mid-Levels". Mid-Levels Garden, formerly known as "Xie Jin Gong Dun", is the former residence of Xie An. It was the residence of Wang Anshi in the Northern Song Dynasty, and was later donated by Wang Anshi to Buddhism to build a temple. Song Shenzong Zhao Yong named it "Baoning Temple"; Wang Anshi died of grief because of the new law and was buried in the backyard garden of Baoning Temple (Banshan Temple).
1858, Tao Shu built a residence in Longpan at the foot of Liangshan Mountain, named "Kunshan Garden", and established an academy in the garden, named "Yin Xi Academy". At the end of Qing Dynasty, Duan Fang, Governor of Liangjiang River, founded a library in Nanjing, that is, two stacks were built on the site of Yishan Garden, renamed as "Feng Taolou", and officially opened in August of 19 10, named Jiangnan Library. 19 19 was renamed as the first library of Jiangsu province, and 1929 was renamed as the library of Jiangsu national studies. 1954 was designated as Nanjing Library. Now it is the ancient books department of Nanjing Library.
Chengyin Garden is the former residence of Gu Hengbo, one of the eight beauties in Qinhuai. It is located in Gulou Street, and the house is named the City Hidden Garden, also known as "Hengbo Teahouse".
Keyuan is Chen's home. Chen was a famous writer, scholar and local history expert in Nanjing in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. Keyuan, located at No.20 Anpin Street, was built by Chen's father. Because of its considerable scale, after the Taiping Army captured Nanjing, it became the residence of a general of the Taiping Army. As early as 1984, Keyuan was announced as a cultural protection unit in jianye district.
Changzhou
Changzhou gardens flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, but most of them were destroyed after the urban changes. There are many existing private gardens, such as nearby gardens, unfinished gardens, temporary gardens and Italian gardens. Changzhou people have always been quiet in gardening. Most of the private gardens are exquisite and unique, occupying a small area, but at the same time they have inherited and retained the originality of Jiangnan gardens, as well as the characteristics of being good at artistic conception and changing scenery. There are unique historical stories behind each garden. Among them, the modest "approximate garden" is the most famous, and it is the most private garden with the style of early Qing and late Ming in Jiangnan.
Wuxi
Jichang Garden is still a famous garden in the south of the Yangtze River. Plum Garden and Pear Garden are modern works.
Shanghai
Shanghai Yuyuan Garden is located in Shanghai, Hainan. According to legend, Huangshi in the garden was created by Zhang Nanyang, a famous craftsman of Dieshan Mountain in Ming Dynasty, with a wonderful structure. There is also Yulinglong Stone, one of the famous peaks in the south of the Yangtze River, which has been handed down as a relic of the Flower Stone Class. The ancient Yi Garden in Nanxiang, which was destroyed in most areas during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, has now been restored, with a larger scale than before. Jiading Qiuxiapu Park, recently renovated. Qingpu Qushui Garden and Songjiang Zuibaitan all have traces of the old days.
Hangzhou
Many private gardens in the old days have been lost, but there are several villages in the west of the lake, such as Guo Zhuang (Fenyang Villa), Gaozhuang (Hongdong Villa) and Liu Zhuang (Shuizhuju), but they are not what they used to be. The Wenlan Pavilion and Xiling Yinshe in Gushan are also small gardens in the West Lake, which are unique.
Jiaxing
Yanyulou was built in the Five Dynasties, in the middle of South Lake. Misty rain blows over Zhu, and the scenery is best in dim light. There is a sail-falling pavilion at Shanqingmen in the north of the city, which was built in the Song Dynasty and recently rebuilt.
Changshu
Yan Garden is the most famous, and there are two mountains, Hushi and Huangshi, both of which were made by Ge, a famous Dieshan in the Qing Dynasty. Huyinyuan, Xukuo Mansion, Water Dance Garden, etc. Has lost its original state.
Xing Wu
Gardens flourished in the Southern Song Dynasty, and now only a few small private gardens such as Xiaolianzhuang in Nanxun in the late Qing Dynasty exist. There are no hidden gardens, suitable gardens and suitable gardens in the city.
