The process of book printing in China and its influence on today's book design art are briefly described.
The Beauty of Books 20 13 "Pulsating Flow" exhibition opened in Dongguan Guancheng Library. Han Zhanning, the curator and Shenzhen designer, under the guidance of the tour guide, showed the works exhibitions of seven influential book designers in China since 1949. This exhibition contains seven masterpieces representing different generations of China book design circles, including Zhang Cizhong, Fan Yixin, Cao Jie, Ning, Su Taixi, etc., showing the history and vicissitudes of China book design for more than half a century. At the same time, the research exhibition "Evolution from binding to book design" is more like a contemporary art work. In the afternoon, Han Zhanning, as a curator and guest speaker, gave a speech on "The Evolution from Binding to Book Design" with the theme of showing the design career, representative works and creative ideas of seven designers. At the end of the lecture, Ning Chengchun praised him: "You speak better than anyone else!"

Book design has gone through 50 years.

At the end of this year, the 8th National Book Design and Binding Art Exhibition will be held in Shenzhen. The research exhibition "Evolution from Binding to Book Design" is a warm-up before the exhibition.

Han Zhanning said that from 1959 to 2009, book design has gone through 50 years, and finally it is in line with the world's advanced book design concepts. In Han Zhanning's view, the earliest generation of book designers or writers with design consciousness and ideas was Lu Xun. He not only designed the school emblem of Peking University, but also designed many book covers and illustrations himself, and he especially liked printmaking. Lu Xun made great contributions to the early popularization and introduction of China prints. Another novelist, Zhang Ailing, also likes to design the cover of her novels and even arrange the illustrations inside. These are pioneers with a sense of book design. The seven Zhang Cizhong in this exhibition are the most representative designers who study the history of China book design in his eyes.

The seven designers have different styles.

In Han Zhanning's story, seven designers have different styles, but their life experiences are more interesting.

Zhang Cizhong was born in 1924 and entered the advertising industry at the age of 16. He was once one of the four famous dragons in the advertising industry in Shanghai. After the founding of New China, he wrote a series of red classics. Mao Xuan is his masterpiece, and he also designed the first draft of the Constitution published in 1954. There is also a photo biography of Marx and the cover of the red flag. Zhang Cizhong can write and draw, and the portraits in Marx's biographies are painted with brush strokes, which have the effect of copperplate painting. The cover of the Complete Works of Lenin used to be painted with lacquer cloth, which he found unsatisfactory. He went to the workshop himself, and the lacquer cloth was usually brushed seven times. He found the effect very good by the fifth time, and then drew it with linen five times. The effect is very good. Han Zhanning believes that "he is a master who combines binding art with material art".

Fan Yixin was born in 1927, and Han Zhanning called him "the old carat of Shanghai". In addition to book design, his illustrations and prints are also excellent. But also integrate printing and illustrations into book design. His masterpiece is Ci Hai. He designed fonts in the 1970s and 1980s, which was very avant-garde, and then made plates by hand. At the same time, he designed for a large number of literary magazines, and the harvest came from him.

Cao Jie, born in 193 1, is a refined person in Han Zhanning's eyes. She said, "Book design is to make the most beautiful wedding dress". As an editor and editor of Art editor, People's Fine Arts Publishing House, her main works are albums and paintings. The Collection of President Su Jianuo's Paintings won the gold medal at the Leipzig International Book and Art Exhibition from 65438 to 0959. Forty years later, he won the gold medal at the Leipzig International Book and Art Exhibition again with the Song People's Atlas. Her works are elegant, and the Biography of Mustard Garden designed in the 1960s/kloc-0 is still in use today. When she designed Selected Works of Qi Baishi, she used a very cheap coarse blue cloth as the cover. At that time, Qi Baishi was already a master, and most people felt that better materials were definitely needed. However, Cao Jie felt that Qi Baishi was born in poverty, lived a frugal life, wanted to meet the needs of literati, and could highlight the nationality. As a result, this design was well received.
