What's the difference between Peking University core journals and statistical source journals?
First, the evaluation units are different: the core of Peking University is the evaluation of Peking University; The core of statistical sources is the evaluation of China Institute of Science and Technology Information.

Second, the review cycle is different: the core of Peking University is valid for four years, and the journal will be re-reviewed after four years; Statistical source core is valid for three years; Re-evaluate the journal one year after sowing.

Third, the evaluation fields are different: the core of Peking University includes social science and natural science; The core of statistical sources only includes natural science.

Science and technology core: the full name is the core periodical of science and technology statistics source, also known as science and technology core or statistics source core. Selected 1 time every two years in all regular journals. If the impact factor reaches the standard, it will become the core of science and technology, which will be published by the Ministry of Science and Technology every two years.

Chinese Core: The full name of China Biology Core Journal, also known as Chinese Core and Peking University Core. Selected 1 time every four years in all core sci-tech journals. If the impact factor reaches the standard, it will become the Core of Chinese, which will be published by Peking University Publishing House every four years.

CSCD Core Journals: CSCD is the English abbreviation of China Science Citation Database, and the core journals included in this database are all CSCD core journals. CSCD is divided into core library and extended library, among which the magazines in the core library are slightly higher (relatively speaking), but these three magazines overlap. For example, Journal of the First Military Medical University is not only the core journal of CSCD, but also the core journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Core journals:

The core periodical recognized in China is the Compendium of China Core Periodicals, which is jointly compiled by Peking University Library and Peking University Library Periodical Work Research Association. It is published every four years. 1996 published the Catalogue of China Core Journals (2nd Edition), China Core Journals (3rd Edition) in 2000 and China Core Journals (4th Edition) in 2004.

193 1 Bradford, a famous philologist, first revealed the law of concentration and dispersion of documents, and found that 1/3 papers of a certain subject were published in 3.2% journals in a certain period.

From 65438 to 0967, UNESCO studied the distribution of secondary literature in periodicals and found that 75% of the literature appeared in 10% of the periodicals. 197 1 year, Garfield, the founder of SCI, counted the distribution of references in journals and found that 24% of the citations appeared in 1.25% of journals, and so on. All these studies show that there is a "core effect" in journals, which leads to the concept of "core journals".

According to Bradford's law, if scientific journals are arranged in descending order according to the number of papers published in a certain discipline, they are divided into a core area composed of journals closely related to the discipline and several other areas.

If the number of periodicals published in each region is equal, the number of periodicals in the core region and the number of periodicals in the continuous region are 1: n ∧ 2: n ∧ 3: n ∧ 4 ... that is, those periodicals that publish more papers related to a certain discipline or major.

There are seven core journals (or source journals) selection systems in China:

1, Chinese Core Journal of Peking University Library;

2. Nanjing University "China Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI) Source Periodical";

3. China Institute of Science and Technology Information "China Science and Technology Papers Statistical Source Journal" (also known as "China Science and Technology Core Journal");

4. China Core Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences, Document Information Center of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences;

5. China Academy of Sciences Information Center "China Science Citation Database (CSCD) Source Journals";

6. China Humanities and Social Sciences Newspaper "Core Journal of China Humanities and Social Sciences Newspaper";

7. "Selected Database of Core Journals in China" under construction by Wan Fang Data Co., Ltd. ..

Statistical Source Journal (China Science and Technology Core Journal);

The full name of "Statistical Source Periodical" is "Statistical Source Periodical of China Sci-tech Papers" (also known as China Sci-tech Core Periodical), and the catalogue of statistical source periodicals will appear in the Citation Report of China Sci-tech Journals published once a year by China Institute of Sci-tech Information. China Institute of Science and Technology Information (ISTIC) is entrusted by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Starting from 1987, this paper makes a statistical analysis on the number of papers published by scientific and technological personnel in China at home and abroad and their citation, and establishes the China Scientific and Technological Papers and Citation Database (CSTPCD) by using the statistical data, which has been widely concerned and praised by all walks of life.

Statistical source periodicals of China scientific papers are the data sources of CSTPCD. The academic quality of journals is evaluated by the Comprehensive Index Evaluation System of China Sci-tech Journals, and the scope of journals included in China Sci-tech Journals Network is adjusted every year.

The selection criteria of statistical source journals are 17, namely:

(1) Total cited frequency;

(2) Influencing factors;

(3) annual indicators;

(4) Self-citation rate;

(5) he cited rate;

(6) price index;

(7) cited half-life;

(8) cited half-life;

(9) Aging coefficient;

(10) Source Doc amount;

(1 1) Number of citations;

(12) average citation rate;

(13) average number of authors;

(14) area allocation number;

(15) Number of institutions;

(16) international paper ratio;

(17) The impact factor refers to the ratio of the total number of citations of papers published by a journal in the first two years to the total number of papers published by the journal in the first two years. Generally speaking, the greater the impact factor of a journal, the greater its academic influence and role.

However, the core journals claimed by some magazines are actually the Citation Report of China Sci-tech Journals compiled by the Institute of Sci-tech Information of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China every year, and its core edition is China Sci-tech Papers Statistical Source Journals, also known as China Sci-tech Core Journals, which are widely used as evaluation criteria because of its authority and comprehensiveness.

There are various evaluation methods of sci-tech periodicals, and most sci-tech management departments combine these two methods. Of course, there are also some units that only recognize one of them, or refer to the catalogue and then increase or decrease the journals recognized by the industry as their own standards.
