The Chinese Department of the School of Humanities, Shanghai Jiaotong University was formerly the Chinese Department of 1908, which was rebuilt in 2003. At present, the Chinese Department holds a master's degree in China Language and Literature.

There are 19 teachers in Chinese Department, including 3 professors and 5 associate professors, and 79% of the teachers have doctoral degrees. In recent years, teachers in this department have successively undertaken three national social science funds and won two Shanghai Marxist academic works publishing funds. In addition, the "Centennial Collection Department" chaired by Professor Xia has been listed as the national key book publishing planning project in the Eleventh Five-Year Plan.

In order to adapt to the development of the situation and meet the urgent needs of the society for cultural exchange talents between China and foreign countries, the Chinese Department took the lead in setting up an undergraduate major in Chinese language and literature for cultural exchange between China and foreign countries. This major has two characteristics: cultural orientation and external orientation. After completing their studies, students can engage in cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries or related work in foreign-related government departments, foreign-related institutions of government cultural departments, organizations engaged in cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, universities and scientific research institutions, multinational companies, media, embassies and consulates or cultural exchange departments of other overseas institutions.

Undergraduate major: Chinese language and literature (direction of cultural exchange between China and foreign countries)

Master's degree: The History Department of China Language and Literature (first-class discipline) of Shanghai Jiaotong University was established in June 2003. There are 8 teachers, including 4 professors, 1 associate professors and 4 lecturers. In September 2008, the scientific research project "Collection, collation and research of land contracts in mountainous areas of southern Zhejiang: focusing on Shicang Village in Songyang County" presided over by Professor Cao from the Department of History was approved as a major project of Shanghai's philosophy and social science planning. The establishment of this research project has ended the history that the school did not undertake major scientific research projects in humanities and social sciences, which is a major achievement and landmark event for the school to strengthen the construction of liberal arts. This project is also the sixth major project in the history of philosophy and social sciences in Shanghai, and the third university in Shanghai to obtain this level of research. The book Plague: War and Peace-1230- 1960 Environmental and Social Changes in China by Cao and Li Yushang won the second prize of outstanding works of philosophy and social sciences in 2008.

Master program: special history doctoral program: history of science and technology

Master degree: History of Science and Technology and Philosophy of Science and Technology (including the National Quality Education Base of Jiaotong University led by Professor Xia and the Cross-cultural Exchange and Research Center of Jiaotong University led by Professor Xie Bailiang) currently has teachers 15, including 2 professors, 9 associate professors and 4 lecturers. Xie Bailiang is the head of the Chinese Department.

In recent five years, teachers in this department have published more than academic papers, published works and translated works 100. He has successively undertaken two national philosophy and social science foundation projects, one of the tenth five-year key publishing projects 1, two social science projects in Shanghai, and one funded project 1 by the American Social Science Society. The History of World Tragedy Literature, presided over by Professor Xie Bailiang, won the National Excellent Works Award of Foreign Literature, and the History of Contemporary Opera Literature in China was selected as the excellent postgraduate textbook of the Ministry of Education. The History of China Literature, written by Yuan Xingpei, won the National Book Award and the first prize of the textbook of the Ministry of Education. The University Humanities Reader edited by Professor Xia has a great influence in the whole country. The history department of the School of Humanities of Shanghai Jiaotong University was formally established in June 2003. There are 8 teachers, all with doctoral degrees. Among them, there are 3 professors, 2 associate professors and 3 lecturers: Professor Cao, Professor Liu Tong, Professor Gao Fujin, Associate Professor Chen, Associate Professor Pan Xinghui, Dr. Xu Linjiang, Dr. Ren and Dr. At present, nearly 20 elective courses have been offered to undergraduates of various majors in the school. The main directions are modern history of China, ancient history of China and specialized history. The Department has set up the "War and Revolution" research room, which is presided over by Professor Liu Tong, and invited Professor Shan Zhi Hong from yokohama city university, Japan and Professor Lu Xijun from Shimane University, Japan as visiting professors to jointly carry out special research on war and revolution in the modern history of China. The ongoing research project: "Investigation of Japanese technicians serving in the China People's Liberation Army after the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895" is funded by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The research data collected by this laboratory is unique, which has begun to take shape and is being further expanded. The department also plans to establish a new laboratory of institutional history and a laboratory of environmental and disease history. Related preparations are in progress.

In the past five years, teachers in this department have published more than academic papers 1 10, 2 books 12, 8 philosophy textbooks edited and edited (two of which won the national excellent textbook award), and presided over and participated in provincial and ministerial projects 17 (seven of which won awards). Teachers won 3 teaching research awards and 8 teaching awards, among which 1 won the Shanghai Excellent Teacher Award. The achievements cover many fields, such as Marxist philosophy, western philosophy, China philosophy, logic, etc., and involve basic theoretical research, applied research, textbook compilation and teaching research.

Department of History of Science: full name: Department of History of Science and Philosophy of Science and Technology. The department has 0/2 teachers/kloc-including 6 professors (3 doctoral supervisors), 3 associate professors and 3 lecturers. In the past three years, he has published nearly 30 books and more than 100 papers. Among them, Professor Jiang's Research on the Presumpted Year won the Outstanding Scientific and Technological Achievement Award of the National Key Scientific and Technological Research Program in 20001Ninth Five-Year Plan, the Second Prize of the Sixth Shanghai Outstanding Achievement Award of Social Sciences —— the Cutting of Tianwen History and Chronology, and the First Prize of Popular Science Works in Wu Dayou, Taiwan Province Province in 2002. Professor Guan Zengjian's History of Civilization and Metrology in China is the first book on the history of metrology in China, which is funded by the Humanities and Social Sciences Research Fund of Matsushita Foundation.
