Weihai Branch of Shandong University is an off-site branch of Shandong University. Shandong University Weihai Branch is a part of Shandong University, but it is also managed by Weihai City and Shandong University. The name has not been changed because once it is changed to Weihai Campus, Weihai will not have its own university, so the Weihai Municipal Government will not approve the name "Campus".

The differences are as follows:

1. The degree certificate and diploma of the graduates of Weihai Branch indicate that they are studying at Weihai Branch.

2. The teacher gap between the branch school and the general school is still very large. There are only a few tutors in the branch school, which is less than some powerful colleges in the headquarters.

3. Although the number of enrollment majors in branch schools and general schools is similar, there are only 17 doctoral majors at present, and there are no national key disciplines.
