When was the National Library established?
The predecessor of National Library is Shi Jing Library. 1September 9, 909, the Qing government allowed the establishment of Shi Jing Library. 1928 changed its name to National Beiping Library; 195 1 renamed Beijing Library; 1998 12 12 was renamed as the National Library of China. In 2007, with the approval of the State Council, the National Ancient Books Protection Center was established in the National Library; In 20 12, with the approval of the Central Organizing Committee, the National Library added the brand of National Classics Museum, and the National Classics Museum officially opened in 20 14. The National Library has a total construction area of 280,000 square meters, ranking third in the world.

Over the past century, the National Library has gradually formed a graded service system for central state organs, key educational and scientific research enterprises and institutions, the public and the National Library. The National Library has a rich collection of books, inheriting the royal collections of the past dynasties since the Southern Song Dynasty. The earliest collection can be traced back to Oracle Bone Inscriptions in Yin Ruins more than 3,000 years ago. The four rare books, Dunhuang suicide note, Zhao Zang, Yongle Dadian and Ge Si Quan Shu, have attracted worldwide attention.

The National Library is the legal depository of official publications in China, the depository of dissertations designated by the State Council and the depository of United Nations materials. It is the largest collection of Chinese literature in the world and the largest collection of foreign literature in China. By the end of 20021,the total collection of literature exceeded 42.3 million volumes, and the total storage of digital resources was nearly 2500TB.
