Official Sculptures of Hongwu Nanzang in Past Dynasties
In the fourth year of Kaibao in Song Taizu (97 1 year), Yizhou (now Sichuan Province) was ordered to carve "Kaibao", and the printed Tripitaka began to spread in China. As a result, Sichuan Province became the hometown of printing Tripitaka. Since the Great Song Dynasty, officials in past dynasties have carved seven Tripitaka Scriptures, and Daming immediately printed three: Hongwu Nanzang, Yongle Nanzang and Yongle Beizang. Among them, Yongle and Tibet are widely circulated, and the single book Hongwu Nanzang is almost gone.

In the fifth year of Hongwu in Ming Taizu (A.D. 1372), the imperial edict was engraved in Nanjing Jiangshan Temple, which lasted for 27 years in the thirty-first year of Hongwu. Tibetan scriptures 1600, more than 7,000 volumes, divided into 678 letters. Hongwu Nanzang has been carefully proofread and carved, but unfortunately, in the sixth year of Yongle (1408), a fire broke out in Jiangshan Temple and the plates were destroyed. Because the collection only exists for ten years, printed copies handed down from generation to generation are so rare that ordinary people don't know the existence of the collection. Fortunately, Sichuan is a land of abundance, with such a blessing, and a collection of Hongwu Nanzang. Mr. Fang Guangchang, director of the good headquarters of Beijing Library, called it the only surviving orphan.
