The current building of the library is 1996, located at No.85 Jiaodaokou East Street, with convenient transportation. It is adjacent to Guozijian Street in the north, Wen Tianxiang Temple and Shuntian Fu Xue in the south, Beijing No.22 Middle School in the east, Oriental Cultural Exchange Center in the west, facing the Cultural Center and the Bell and Drum Tower, with superior human and geographical environment.

From the end of 2007 to May 2008, the district government invested more than 30 million yuan to upgrade the building in order to further improve the readers' borrowing environment, enhance the library's service level and ability, and better play its role in the construction of public cultural service system. The library has adult lending room, children lending room, comprehensive reading room, foreign language reading room, creative literature reading room, local literature reading room, government information consulting room, study room and other 10 service windows. There are 520 reading seats and 80 computers with internet access, which receive more than 300,000 people and borrow more than 300,000 books and periodicals every year.

Dongcheng District Library Conference Center also has elegant, solemn, warm and comfortable theaters, exhibition halls, lecture halls, multi-function halls, VIP rooms, conference rooms, multi-function training classrooms, etc., which can provide citizens with various types and levels of cultural services.

The goal of Dongcheng District Library is to maximize the social and cultural value of the library and make it a first-class, unique and modern district-level library in China by pursuing the maximization of literature utilization and reader satisfaction.
