1. despicable Mr. Parker
Amy was in the kitchen when she rushed into the room.
"How was school?" Mrs. harris asked Amy, hoping that Amy would answer "Fine" as usual.
"Great!" Amy shouted. "A lady had a lesson about wild animals and showed us a hedgehog. I want to be an expert in hedgehog research. "
"A what?" Mrs. harris asked.
Hedgehog expert, a person who knows hedgehogs like the back of his hand.
"That's good," said mrs. harris. "You should go to the library and see if you can find relevant books."
"Oh, dear," Amy complained, "then I have to see Mr. Peck."
Mr. Parker is a children's librarian. He is a stingy and despicable person. He often lives in the room next to Amy.
When Amy arrived at the library, there was hardly anyone in the library. Amy searched along the bookshelf, trying to find a book about hedgehogs.
"What are you doing?" A stern voice came from behind Amy.
Amy almost jumped out of her socks.
"I'm looking for a book about animals."
"Animals, really? (expressing doubt and irony) ",Peck showed disdain. "What kind of animals? Domesticate animals? Wild animals? Where do these animals come from? Africa? India? Britain? "
"This is a hedgehog," Amy replied.
"hedgehog!" Mr. Peck shouted, "The worst animals, they dig vegetables and bite off a big piece."
Mr. Peck took out a book from the shelf and said, "If you must study this terrible thing, this is the best I can do for you."
"Thank you!" Amy answered politely.
"Remember to return the book on time. Aren't you afraid to introduce hedgehogs into your garden? Don't forget that your garden will follow in my footsteps. Do you know what I would do if I saw a hedgehog near my carrot? "
"I don't know," said Amy.
"I want to shoot with my water gun!"
After returning home, Amy read a book about hedgehogs. She found that hedgehogs eat slugs and snails, but there is no mention of eating vegetables in the book.
She returned the book to the library the next day.
"What is this?" Mr. Peck asked, "This book won't expire until 20 days later!" "
"But I have finished reading it!" Amy said, "Are there any books about hedgehogs here?"
"Over there!" Mr. Parker snapped back and pointed his nose at it.
Amy walked slowly along the bookshelf. Where are the books about animals? When Amy tried to ask Peck again, she saw something. This is an old tape called The Call of the Wild. It looks as if no one has played it.
So Amy took the tape off the shelf. This proved to be part of a series of animal noises. This is the 12 tape, which is called "Hedgehog".
Amy asked Mr Parker if he could borrow this tape.
"Of course," Mr. Peck said rudely. "Although people who want to hear the sound of animals are absolutely crazy."
Mr. Peck marked the tape box and said, "Don't forget to play it again after listening to it."
2. hedgehog's words
Amy sat in her room and listened to the hedgehog's voice over and over again with her stereo headphones. Amy repeated the hedgehog's voice herself.
"I'm talking to the hedgehog," Amy thought. "I wonder what they are talking about." I really need a hedgehog to help me. I'm pretty sure there is one in the garden. If I am a hedgehog, they may hear me.
So Amy ran into the garden and screamed as loudly as possible.
He stopped to listen, but no hedgehog responded. Amy tried again. But only one cat came to the garden.
"I will continue to work hard," Amy said. "I'm sure I can do it." Finally, Amy caught a cold and went home.
Amy tried again the next night. In this way, she persisted for a week.
"What are you doing outside?" Mrs. harris asked her daughter.
"Just wait and see," said Amy.
Just then, the doorbell rang. It's Mr. Parker. He stood at the door in his pajamas. Amy noticed that Mr Parker's hair was wet.
"mrs. harris," Mr Peck said, "every night when I take a shower, I hear a sound. It seems to come from your garden. "
Amy giggled while covering her mouth.
"Noise?" Harris questioned.
"Some kind of animal," Mr. Peck said. "If I were you, I would sprinkle some pesticides. This is the only way to deal with animals. "
Amy rushed into the garden as soon as Mr. Peck left. "Mr. Peck thinks I am an animal," Amy said to herself. "I want to try again!"
Amy knelt down and began to make hedgehog noises again.
Almost instantly, there was a rustle, and then a hedgehog slowly climbed up the lawn. Amy was very happy and whined with the hedgehog.
Suddenly, a torch lit up their eyes.
"What's the matter?" A voice said. It turned out to be Mr. Peck, still wearing his pajamas. The hedgehog immediately turned into a ball.
"I'm talking to a hedgehog," said Amy.
"You shameless little thing! Talk to the hedgehog.
"What's the matter-?" Amy said.
Before Amy finished, Mr. Peck interrupted her, "Besides, the hedgehog is a dirty little monster. He ate all the vegetables in the garden! " "
"Nonsense!" Amy said angrily, "Hedgehogs are not dirty and don't eat vegetables. They only eat snails and slugs. Now, if you don't mind, I want to talk to the hedgehog! "
Mr peck was shocked to hear the answer. When Amy hummed softly to the hedgehog, Peck opened his mouth wide, and then slowly opened it. (I don't understand)
A sly expression crossed Mr. Parker's face.
"Honey, how long have you been doing this?" Peck asked.
"Never," said Amy. "But from now on, I will be here every day."
"Well ..." Peck said, "You'll be here every night. That's what you said."
3. The Great Hedgehog Girl
When Amy came home from school the next day, Peck was in front of his driveway. He is installing a big board at the door. When he saw Amy, he left his coat on the blackboard.
Amy promised Peck that she would "talk" to Hedgehog. When it was dark, Amy went into the garden to find her hedgehog friend.
Amy knelt down again and began to hum. This time two hedgehogs appeared.
"What are you talking about?" Harris asked.
"slug"
A voice came from next door. Amy threw the flashlight on the fence. Many people stared at Amy's garden. They all opened their mouths in surprise.
One of them stepped forward. That's Mr. peck.
"I called some friends," he said quietly. "I hope you don't mind."
Amy was disgusted, but so many people came to see her and felt proud. You can look, but don't make any noise and don't take pictures.
People nodded in agreement.
Amy squatted down again and snorted.
Three hedgehogs appeared again this time. Amy told the hedgehog not to be afraid. People just wanted to see how smart the hedgehog was. Amy and hedgehog are chatting and playing games.
When all the hedgehogs left, the crowd behind the fence applauded and cheered. Of course they want to know what hedgehog and Amy said.
"They talked about their children, and then talked about why they rolled into a ball; And where to find the best larval food. They also told me that they would spend the winter in winter. "
Mrs. harris hugged her daughter Amy.
"You are incredible," Harris said. "Come in and let me make you a delicious hot drink."
"Yes, go in," Peck said happily. I think you must be very tired.
It is strange that Mr. Peck has never said a good word to Amy before.
At this moment, Amy heard the sound of a zero star, which was the sound of coins falling into the box.
"。 . . I don't understand, "Amy heard someone say.
"Shh ..." Mr. Wang said, "Peck.
Then Amy remembered the plank in front of the door that Mr. Peck had been repairing. Why did Mr. Peck try to hide it? Amy rushed to the front of the house. On that big board, it says, "As long as you get 1 franc, you can see the magical hedgehog girl (and send cookies and tea)".
"mental derangement!" Amy said. Then a smile crossed her face. "I know how to solve it, Mr. Peck."
She ran to Mr. Parker's garden. Some people are still eating their snacks and tea!
Before Mr. Peck could stop her, Amy said, "Ladies and gentlemen, there is something I have to tell you. All the money you pay tonight will be donated to Hedgehog Hospital to take care of the sick hedgehog.
Everyone applauded and nodded except Mr peck.
His face turned red and then he made a strange noise.
"Not only that," Amy went on, "Mr. Peck also agreed that for every pound you gave tonight, he would give another pound out of his own money."
Everyone applauded and cheered again. Peck's face turned pale. But he managed to give a smiling face.
Before Peck could call, Amy added, "I'm glad Hedgehog Hospital asked me to keep the money for them first."
Amy held out her hand. Mr. Peck had to hand the box to Amy in frustration.
When he reached into his pocket and took out two 10 bills, Mr. Peck's expression became even more depressed.
"Mr. Peck is so generous!" Amy said.
This is not the end of the story! Amy still has a lot of feelings, Mr peck.
Amy sent the money to Hedgehog Hospital and let Hedgehog patrol Mr. Peck's garden. She told the hedgehog that no slugs would eat his vegetables again.
A week later, Mr. Peck's zucchini, red beans and carrots won the third prize in the local exhibition.
That night, Peck leaned against the fence and showed Amy his third prize.
"Thanks to these hedgehogs," Peck said, "I wish I knew they were so useful! I bought them presents. "
Parker handed Amy a can of dog food.
"I just got some new books about hedgehogs in the library. After reading it, I know they like dog food, "he explained.
A group of hedgehogs crowded in at once, and Amy squatted down behind them.
"What are they talking about?" Peck asked.
"Well, it's hard to understand what the hedgehog said with his mouth full. But I think they are saying that the food is delicious. "
"That's what I thought," Peck said. "I spent a lot of money on that jar! Can you tell them not to make any noise with their mouths full? That would be rude. "
"I'll try," Amy said.
She looked at the hedgehog and smiled.
