6. Interlibrary loan

I. Collection types and distribution:

Since ancient books, special collections, periodicals, dissertations and other collections cannot be lent out, this paper only briefly introduces the retrieval, search and borrowing methods of various modern loanable Chinese and foreign books (including some e-books).

Second, search the bibliography:

1. Simple search

In the "Collection Catalogue" search box on the library homepage, select and enter the field name (comprehensive search, title, author, subject or publication name) corresponding to the keyword (red circle) as needed, and click "OK" to start the search.

2. Complex retrieval

If there are too many simple search results, you need to add a search field. You can click Limited Search or Complex Search in the result display interface, as shown in the following figure:

"Restricted retrieval" is a further refinement of the initial retrieval, and "complex retrieval" can continue the last retrieval or start a new retrieval. Both of them provide complex retrieval functions such as Boolean logic combination, and can be retrieved separately by series or journal titles. The "Complex Search" interface is as follows:

3. "Unnamed academic search"

"Unnamed academic search" is an academic resource discovery and acquisition system based on massive metadata storage, which is committed to providing readers with more convenient "one-stop" retrieval. At present, the system has included all the books and periodicals in our library, more than 95% of foreign electronic journals purchased by our library, more than 87% of academic papers in Chinese electronic journals, dissertations of our library, multimedia resources and other self-built digital resources. In the "Unnamed Academic Search" search box on the front page of the library, enter keywords directly.

The left side (red box) of the search results interface (as shown below) is an option to refine various search conditions. Combined with the search bar (red circle) at the top of the page, you can refine the search results many times.

Third, determine the location of the collection:

1. Check the collection position of books directly on the collection bibliography retrieval results page. According to the call number, you can go to the corresponding reading room/lending office/branch library where the collection is located. The single volume of this book shows the specific collection location on this page.

2. Check the different collection locations of many books in the bibliographic records. Displaying "non-circulating" means that the copy cannot be checked out; The "expiration" date shows that the book has been lent, and "number of people who have reserved this kind of book" shows the total number of people who have reserved this kind of book at present; The "collection place" refers to books outside the "Peking University Center", and the borrowing method is different from that in the collection of Peking University Center (see "Borrowing in Medical Library, Branch Library and Library" later for details).

3. Fill in the book call list (write down the call number, title, author and reader's name and student number of the required books) and give it to the cashier's desk staff; The books in each open-shelf reading area find the bookshelf where the book is located according to the call number, and then borrow it from the cashier at the door.

Four, other library lending related services:

1, teaching reference book

At present, teaching reference books provide two-hour borrowing service. Readers can pick up their books in the staff reading room and go through the borrowing procedures at the self-service borrowing machine at the entrance of the reading room. When returning books, they are returned directly to the staff reading room, and they are still returned on the self-service lending and returning machine.

The entrance of electronic teaching reference books on the front page of the library is shown in the following figure:

Step 2 make an appointment

(1) Make an appointment under the retrieved bibliography record.

(2) After entering the "Appointment" interface, click the "Add Appointment" button.

(3) "Confirm" the reservation information.

(4) After the reservation is successful, you can check the reserved bibliography in the reader's personal account. And follow the prompt "Can I borrow it?" to get books from the library (the central library gets books at the general return office).

3. Renew the loan

(1) After logging in your personal account on the library homepage, the welcome interface of "My Library" will be displayed, and click "Renew".

(2) Select the collection to be renewed on the "Renewal" page.

(3) You can check the expiration date of the lent book in the "Borrowing Status" of your personal account to confirm whether the renewal is successful. Please note: the new loan term will be extended by one month from the date of renewal operation (extended in winter and summer holidays or legal holidays).

4, new book bibliography notice and new book reading guide

Under "Reading Recommendation" in the column of "Service" on the library homepage, "Latest Bookshelf" gives weekly updated bibliography notice and new book guide of new books in each room. The entrance is shown in the figure below.

5. Borrowing from medical libraries, departmental branches and storage libraries.

(1) medical library

The medical library is located in the medical department, and its collections are mainly biology, medicine, hygiene and pharmacy. Readers of the Central Library and the Medical Library can borrow books from the two libraries themselves, and the books borrowed from the two libraries can be returned to the nearest central library or medical library.

(2) branches of colleges and departments

More than 20 department branches and 10 department reference rooms are important parts of the document sharing and service system of Peking University Library, with a focus on collecting more than 6,543,800,000 books with subject characteristics. At present, the services provided by each branch library include: document borrowing, document copying, document delivery, subject reference consultation, etc. Branches of different departments receive different readers.

(3) Changping Storage Hall

The collection library is located in the former Changping Park campus, which collects books, newspapers and various Chinese and foreign documents with a long history and low utilization rate, and provides services including general book borrowing, periodical and newspaper reading, off-campus readers' interlibrary loan, and document delivery. Readers are requested to hand in the loan slip to the document request drop box of Changping Pavilion located in the sunshine hall of the Central Pavilion. After the staff bring the books back to the central library, the readers will go through the borrowing procedures.

For details of each branch library service, please refer to the "Branch Library" column of the library website:
