The Shawshank Redemption
The Shawshank Redemption
A blockbuster that exposes the shady American justice.
A picture of life full of friendship and hope
Metaphorical works containing philosophy of life
The story in the movie The Shawshank Redemption took place on 1947. Banker Andy was drunk and tried to shoot his wife and her lover, but he didn't do it in the end. However, an unfortunate coincidence happened-another man shot and killed his wife and her lover that night, so Andy was accused of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment, which means he will spend the rest of his life in Shawshank prison.
Rhett 1927 was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, and his parole failed several times. He has now become an "authority figure" in Shawshank prison. As long as you can afford it, he can get almost anything you want. Whenever a new prisoner comes, people will bet who will cry on the first night. Rhett thinks vulnerable Andy will cry. As a result, Andy's silence made him lose two packs of cigarettes.
For a long time, Andy hardly contacted anyone. A month later, the first thing Andy asked Rhett to do for him was a stone hammer. He wanted to kill time by carving small things, and said that he tried to escape the routine inspection by the prison authorities. Later, Andy made a huge poster of rita hayworth and put it on the wall of his cell.

Once, Andy and several other prisoners went out to work, and he overheard the prison guard talking about paying taxes. Andy said he had a way to get prison officials to legally exempt this large amount of tax. In exchange, each prisoner who works with him gets three bottles of beer. Drinking beer, Rhett guessed that Andy just used this leisure time to enjoy a short period of freedom.
During a ward round, the warden took Andy's Bible, but returned it to him without opening it and told him that "the way of redemption is in it", but the warden didn't expect that the so-called "way of redemption" was really in it.
Andy's professional knowledge in the fiscal and taxation system has gradually freed him from heavy physical labor. After Warden Norton's inspection, Andy was sent to the prison library and began to provide financial guidance to all prison guards, from filing tax returns to applying for a pension plan. And most importantly, he is Norton's money laundering tool.
At the same time, Andy writes to the state legislature every week, asking for funds for the construction of the prison library. Finally, the state legislature couldn't stand Andy's avalanche of letters and allocated $200 to the prison and some donated books and articles. Andy accidentally found a record among the donated items, and while the guards were unprepared, he played a long-lost sound of nature to all Shawshank prisoners with a megaphone. The moment I longed for The Wedding of Figaro, I got Andy's two-week detention.
Red, who has been in prison for 30 years, was rejected by the parole board again, while Andy has been in Shawshank prison for 10 years. Monroe's huge poster was given to him by Rhett as a 10 anniversary gift.
Andy is still writing to the state legislature, this time twice a week. From 65438 to 0959, the state legislature promised to allocate 500 dollars to Shawshank prison library every year. Soon, Shawshank Library was transformed into the best prison library. [ 1]
In 1960s, Tommy, a young man, went to prison for theft and soon became a good friend of Andy and Rhett. Andy thinks Tommy is smart and confident, and is determined to teach him culture so that he can make a living by proper means after he gets out of prison. Coincidentally, Tommy stayed in another prison before serving his sentence in Shawshank Prison, and learned the truth about the death of Andy's wife and lover from a prisoner in the same cell at that time. Andy found the warden, hoping that the warden could help him reverse the case. The warden turned down Andy on the grounds that he could not succeed. Andy had an argument with the warden about it. The warden told him not to forget his identity and kept Andy in a dark room for a month. This month, the warden murdered Tommy, and Tommy told him that he knew the truth. After Andy came out of the darkroom, he lied to Andy on the grounds that Tommy was killed by the prison guard because he escaped from prison, but Andy knew that Tommy had been killed. The warden gave him another month to think about what to do (in fact, he wanted him to continue to help him launder money). Because on the one hand, he is worried about the exposure of gray income, and on the other hand, he wants Andy to stay in prison and help him settle accounts.
After Andy knew the truth, he decided to be free through his own redemption! Before the action, he said a "strange" word to Rhett and told him to go to a place. If he got out of prison one day, he would leave something for Rhett. Andy succeeded in "jailbreaking" through hard work, and his jailbreaking tool was "redemption" in the Bible, a small stone hammer hidden in the book (a groove was carved in the book, just to put the stone hammer). The last time he helped the warden to launder money and fill out the documents, he took advantage of the warden's unprepared to steal the column and put a Bible as the warden's black income account book into the warden's safe. He took part of the money he washed for the warden (he went to 12 bank to withdraw $370,000) and sent the evidence that the warden was suspected of corruption and murder to the newspaper. The warden was shocked to see the newspaper report about the corruption and murder of Shawshank prison warden. Then the siren sounded. The warden looked up and saw the plaque of "the judgment of the Lord is coming", took off the plaque, opened the safe behind the plaque, and found that his black gold record book had become a Bible. On the first page, he wrote, "Dear Warden, you are right, and the road to redemption is among them". Then he turned down and found that it was cut right after the page of Exodus. Subsequently, a large number of police and journalists flocked to Shawshank, and the desperate warden locked himself in his office and finally shot himself. [2]
Andy escaped from prison by digging his own tunnel to reach the sewage pipe, and then climbed over the sewage pipe to the river outside (the film also gave a close-up of the escape route, and described the length of the sewage pipe in three ways: 500 yards; The length of five football fields; Half a mile, almost 800 meters, these special sentences want to express that Andy is finally out of prison and has done another legendary thing. For details, please refer to American personal heroism.
When Rhett was released on parole, he was desperate because he was institutionalized in prison life and could not adapt to social life. In order to go to prison, he once thought about committing another crime. But he thought of his promise to Andy, and he found a gift left by Andy: a stack of 50 dollars and a letter. The letter talked about "hope", which is also the theme of the film, because Rhett thinks that "hope" is a terrible thing in prison, and today Andy proved to him that everything that penetrates all high walls in this world is in our hearts, and they can't reach it, but they can also touch it. In the letter, Andy tells Rhett to go to Mexico to find him. Rhett overcame the psychological crisis after parole and finally found Andy hopefully. At the same time, he also knows what these beautiful things are: hope, freedom and friendship. In this filthy society, only they will lead us to out of the dark and seek inner beauty. Finally, the two friends met in the extremely blue Pacific Ocean and hugged each other. ...
