A Brief Introduction to the Author of Guernsey Literature and Potato Skin Pie Club
Mary Ann Schaefer (1934—2008) is an American writer. I used to be an editor of a publishing house, a librarian and a bookstore clerk. My biggest dream is to write and publish a book of my own. 1976, she flew to Guernsey on a whim while traveling in London. When she returned, she was trapped in the airport because of the fog, so she had to stay in the men's bathroom, drying her mobile phone to keep warm and reading all the books in the airport bookstore. Since then, she has forged a lifelong love affair with Guernsey. Years later, egged on by her friends, she picked up a pen and created a dream, and set the story background in Guernsey, which was troubled by dreams. The work has not yet been finalized and has been widely circulated in European and American publishing circles and workshops.

Regrettably, in February 2008, on the eve of the publication of the book, Mary died unfortunately. Publishers Weekly published an obituary specially for her, which is a rare high-standard treatment for new writers. Annie Barrows, a famous American children's book writer and Mary's niece, decided to put down her book and take over all the revisions of the manuscript when she was unable to continue writing due to menstrual illness, and finally finished the whole work, which won infinite praise and glory all over the world.
