Beijing museum of natural history is the first large-scale natural history museum built by New China, which is mainly engaged in specimen collection, scientific research and scientific popularization in the fields of paleontology, animals and plants, anthropology and so on. The museum has been named "National Youth Science and Technology Education Base" and "Beijing Patriotism Education Base" by Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and Beijing Municipal Governments, and "Science and Peace Education Base" by China Organizing Committee of UNESCO.
