Founded in 1904, Hunan Library is the earliest provincial public library named after "Library" in China.
Hunan Library is the governing unit of Hunan Library Society, and it is also the Hunan provincial sub-center of national public digital culture project and ancient books protection project. The present building covers an area of 32,000 square meters. There are 16 external service windows in the museum all the year round, serving nearly 3 million readers every year.
