Soundiata's father Magan Kon Fatah is a well-known handsome man. He has three wives, three sons and three daughters. Bei Leita, the first wife, gave birth to Prince Dankaratman, Princess Nana and Triban.

The second wife, Songkelong Zhu Kai, gave birth to Prince Sondyata and two princesses, Songkelong Cronkang and Songkelong Jamaru. The third wife's name is Sister Naman. Prince Mandibuli is Soddy Yata's best friend. The story begins when Prince Dan Kalantman was eight years old.

The Sound of Diatta is a heroic epic in Africa, praising the heroic achievements of the founder of Mali Empire in West Africa in the13rd century. The whole poem, chapter 18, was dictated by Mamadou Cuyatai, a folk artist from Baccolo village in Gerry.
