The life story of Nan, a master of Chinese studies, who failed to study.
After the end of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the young Mr. Nan resolutely resigned from his relatives and traveled to Sichuan Central Military Academy to teach and serve the country. When I was in Sichuan, in order to serve the public, I joined the institute of Jinling University in Huaxi Dam, specializing in social welfare undertakings. It was reported at the time:? There was a young man named Nan, who was ambitious and full of lofty sentiments at a young age. He did not avoid the hardships of wild smoke and rain, leaped to the southwest of the horse and settled in Danli to organize training for the consolidation of national defense. When the task was completed, he quietly rode back to Shu and taught at the Central Military Academy. Only for wealth, not for things, I use mango shoes and bamboo sticks to travel all over the famous mountains and rivers and visit all the monks and wonderful people every holiday. Later, he resigned from his teaching post and abandoned the Lingyan Temple in Qingcheng. Later, he disappeared in Daping Temple, the peak of Emei Mountain, to learn the way of cultivating immortals. ?
There is a famous Lingyan Temple in Qingcheng Mountain, guanxian, not far from Chengdu. Mr. Nan is a close friend of the Buddhist Master here. At that time, many well-known scholars, such as Feng Youlan and Qian Mu, all closed their doors in the temple, and so did Mr. Yuan Huanxian, an old man from Yanting, a great Buddhist. Mr. Yuan Shen is a famous Zen master in northern Sichuan. He spent hundreds of millions of wealth, traveled all over the world, sought dharma, forgot his body, fully realized, concentrated on the canon, lived in the Buddha's heart, and saw stars and enlightened people. The decline of Mr. Wang's miserable road and the misery of all sentient beings are based on the Tathagata's family business and Kong Lao's salary, standing in the country and the world, preaching the Dharma with the exorcist of the virtual cloud, and the mirror of the law is hanging high and surging. There was a time when celebrities and scholars who followed him traveled thousands of miles to teach Yu Xiansheng.
During his vacation and leisure time, Mr. Nan often travels to and from Qingcheng Mountain and stays in the temple. By chance, he met Huan County, old Yuan Man. Under the interview, he became an old friend. When Mr. Yuan's retreat expired, he went down to Chengdu to set up Vimo Jing She, and Mr. Nan followed him around, so he fell down at the door wall and became the first disciple of Vimo Jing She. He concentrated on meditation, and he resolutely resigned as an instructor in the Central Military Academy. Teachers and students are like father and son. At that time, Mr. Nan was twenty-five years old, and he had already got the biography of the old gentleman. I went to Chongqing with Mr. Yuan Lao to meet Xu Yun's exorcist, taught in person, and went to Yuxi Kou in Tongnan for the winter with my teacher, which was even more remarkable. Later, in order to study Buddhism in depth, Mr. Nan quietly left Chengdu to practice at Daping Temple in Emei Mountain.
Mount Emei is one of the five famous Buddhist mountains in China and the Dojo of Bodhisattva Samantabhadra. Daping Temple in Zhongfeng was founded by Master Song Yue, a reclusive Taoist in the late Ming Dynasty. It is located on a steep lonely peak, and only two rugged mountain roads, Monkey Slope and Snake Back, can pass. There is no water on the mountain, only rain and winter ice and snow are used, which is inaccessible. This is really a good place to retreat. Because Daping Temple has all the Tripitaka, Mr. Nan chose this place to go out of business at the suggestion of his close friend Master Yin Hua and with the approval of Puchin exorcist.
Mr. Nan lived in seclusion for three years, put on a monk's robe, fasted vegetarian food beside the ancient Buddha, and studied twelve Buddhist classics, statutes and treatises of Sanzang day and night, taking the classics as the method to prove his personal practice and benefit for life. In the meantime, Mr. Yuan Huanxian specially went up the mountain to visit his soul mate disciple, held the seventh meditation for the monks in Daping Temple, and happily wrote a meaningful couplet for Daping Temple? This place is Pu Xian Dojo. At the end of the day, you can see the clouds outside the ridge, and the dust is clear. Where do you meet a Xiutou monk, drink Zhaozhou tea, read Ciming list, and draw mountains and rivers for half a month. ?
Mr. Nan has a deep memory of this life. I remember Jinding Road in Emei for a long time. Wanshan is in the ice and snow. ? Mr. Nan has always been grateful to the Indian master who suggested that he retreat here. Master Yin Hua was the leader of all Nigerians in western Sichuan at that time. During Mr. Nan's retreat, she was one of the external guardians who offered sincere support. Mr. Nan wrote in a poem recalling Master Yin Hua:? Remember that rope beds are all over the sky when you are initiated. What time does wintersweet blossom? There is silence outside the window. ? He gave a detailed description of his spiritual life in those days, and also showed deep friendship to his fellow friends.
Later, Mr. Nan closed down from Emei Mountain to Duobao Temple of Wutongqiao in Zhugentan, Leshan. Because of this news, there are more and more tourists, so he moved to the library of his disciple Zhang. Outside of meditation, he immersed himself in reading, reading a complete set of historical masterpieces such as Yongle Dadian and Four Treasures of the Study, and gained a lot.
1945, accompanied by a Buddhist monk, Mr. Nan went to Xikang, Tibet and other places to visit tantric schools. The monk helped him protect the law and arranged his trip. Master Man Kong acted as a Tibetan translator, and Xie Zihou, the chief procurator of Sichuan High Court, provided him with a variety of secret collections of French books such as red religion, white religion, yellow religion and flower education. Perhaps it was because Mr. Nan had the title of Senate of Xikang Xingyuan House at that time that he was able to arrange smoothly in Kangzang area, so that he could understand the mysteries of tantric factions. During this period, Mr. Nan visited Gongga Living Buddha and Gensang Living Buddha. This has been confirmed by many gurus, and Mr. Nan is recognized as a qualified tantric guru. Later, Gongga Living Buddha also taught Mr. Nan secrets and precepts in Daci Temple, an ancient temple in Chengdu, and personally wrote a certificate of teaching methods and precepts in Tibetan and delivered it to Mr. Nan.
During his nine years in Sichuan, Mr. Nan experienced many difficulties and twists and turns, but he finally achieved great success. Isn't it the karma of his previous life? Mr. nan has a saying: It's no accident that Yunfu Ping Piao has traveled all over the world in the past nine years. Let his sideburns turn white in autumn, and he will eventually be like a human fireworks. Intestines idling, things are difficult to complete, floating into the world. Drinking in front of the bottle wakes up a ridiculous dream. You go to Tongnan and I go to Yunnan. ? Is it disappointment to leave Sichuan soon, or mourning for how difficult people's lives are, or a vague Zen saying, maybe both!
The life story of Hua Yu, a master of Chinese studies, who went south to Taiwan Province.
Mr. Nan left Sichuan for Yunnan via Chongqing, gave lectures at Yunnan University in Cheng Chun, and then returned to Rongcheng to give lectures at Sichuan University for a short time. 1947, Mr. Wang returned to his hometown in Yueqing, Zhejiang Province, and then retired to Tianzhu, Hangzhou, where he carefully studied the Siku Quanshu and the Integration of Ancient and Modern Books collected by Zhejiang Library, and then avoided the troubled times and settled in the thatched shed of Tianchi Temple in Lushan, Jiangxi Province. 1949 In the spring, Mr. Wang came to Taiwan Province Province after a wave of adventures.
When Mr. Nan first arrived in Taiwan Province Province, he was encouraged by his friends and cooperated with them on a whim. However, it happened at a moment of change, and his friend made a mistake in business, so that he lost his profit and got into trouble. However, Mr. Ran didn't blame him. Instead, we comforted our friends in many ways and prepared entertainment, which won the appreciation of all the listeners. At that time, Mr. Wang lived in a mean alley by the sea in Keelung. A family of six was squeezed into a small room, but the door was not closed. The child was still in infancy and his life was very poor. Mr. Wang himself described the situation at that time: a nine-year-old boat was floating on the sea, the eaves of low-rise houses were covered by the wind, and the dust made a cauldron. ? However, Mr. Ran has always been detached from things, open and easy, so he is poor and not worried, still smiling. In this dilemma, he completed his first masterpiece, A Probe into the Zen Sea, and expounded the essence of Zen, the case, the initiative, the enlightenment, the magical power and the relationship with the methods of Dandao, Tantra and Pure Land.
Soon, Mr. Wang moved to Longquan Street in Taipei and lived in a vegetable market. The environment is noisy and dirty. Although he lives in a humble room, he still writes books in his right hand, holds his youngest son in his left hand and keeps pedaling the cradle to stop the child from crying. He also completed the Shurangama Sutra and Shurangama Sutra, two masterpieces handed down from ancient times. ? Since I read Leng Yan, I haven't read any books about the dross of human nature. ? The former is a wonderful book to explore the origin of the universal truth of life, a wonderful book to step into the vacuum of Buddhism and enlightenment, and a practice guide to practice, to realize enlightenment behind closed doors and to bear fruit. The latter analyzes the contradiction between idealism and materialism and lists 108 philosophical questions about life, which is a collection of Buddhist knowledge. ? Aaron joined the ceremony. Hongren, the fifth ancestor of Zen Buddhism, used this to test whether scholars were enlightened. In this difficult and bumpy situation, Mr. nan had to? Most books are written for food and beams? With what? Cooking words to satisfy hunger? However, Mr. Wang is frugal, indifferent and happy. Although he is in Chen Zhie, he is still poor and happy, and he has been carefully guided by disciples such as Zhan Aren to carry forward Dafa. Although Mr. Wang missed three meals, he saw that his neighbors had no food to cook, but? People are hungry? When the neighbors are sleeping in the middle of the night, they quietly put the occasional rice bag at the door of this family, so that people can have food to cook and avoid hunger. So many words and deeds are countless.
A few years later, Mr. Wang was successively employed as a chair in the Culture University and Fu Jen Catholic University, and was invited to give lectures in many universities, institutions and social groups. His income from tongue farming and pen farming gradually increased. In the meantime, Mr. Wang wrote Zen and Tao with the aim of promoting China's traditional culture, which deeply explained the purpose and sectarian origin of Zen and deeply analyzed the profound influence of Zen on China culture and society. The book also discusses the origins and cultivation essentials of orthodox Taoism, hermits, alchemists, inner alchemists and outer alchemists with detailed historical materials, which makes the academic circles find everything new and fresh. Once this book was published, readers from all walks of life hoped that Yun Ni, after a long drought, would immediately sell well both inside and outside the island, and Heather's name was known to more people.
1969, Miss Nan? Is it too moral to read Confucian classics? Can't bear the decline of China traditional culture, make a wish? Want to wake up your dreams for Tianxin? Stand out, lift your arms and create? East-West Essence Association? It is intended to inject a clear spring of Chinese culture into the industrial and commercial society of Taiwan and Hong Kong, promote cultural exchanges between China and the West, and serve the public.
The East-West Essence Association is located in Qingtian Street, Taipei. Although it is a small apartment with one room and one living room, but? Why is the room elegant and there are not many flowers? There are two couplets inscribed by Mr. Nan in the hall? Up and down for five thousand years, stretching for thousands of miles; Economy and management are three major religions, with hundreds of words in and out. All rivers run into the sea, and the wind and thunder open the universe; Everything in the sky, Pengfei opens things for ghosts. ? Its momentum is extraordinary. No wonder students and sages from all walks of life were deeply moved by it and donated money to help it win.
The business meeting of the association is busy, and Mr. Wang gives a wide range of lectures. In addition to explaining Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism in simple terms, there are also China cultural departments, strategic studies of past dynasties, traditional Chinese medicine, China architecture and garden art, China enterprise management, as well as poetry, calligraphy and painting, astrology, geomantic omen and Buyi studies. The lecturers are very enthusiastic, and the famous students and peddlers are all ready, both inside and outside the lecture hall. Mr. nan or blue cloth shoes, or a suit and tie, is humorous and easy to talk to. Every time the audience gets something, they smile from time to time.
The meeting development of the East-West Essence Club had a great influence, and it was moved to Fuqing Building in the second section of Xinyi Road in Taipei. In the meantime, Mr. Nan worked hard and founded the monthly "Humanities World", writing four or five articles in each issue, all of which stayed up all night. The first issue of the magazine was published, in which the serial article "Meditation and Immortality" aroused enthusiastic response from many readers. Combining the meditation principles of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism with the academic achievements of Chinese and Western medicine, this paper briefly introduces and answers the thousands of years of practice experience of various eminent monks, and reveals the secrets of thousands of years of practice. Soon, Mr. Wang's "Meditation for Immortality" and "Zen Talk", which gave a new explanation to the case-solving of the founder of Zen, were published one after another to quench the thirst of scholars.
So, Mr. Wang founded? Old ancient publishing house? , later renamed as? Old ancient culture enterprise company? , founded? Mahayana Academy? , later renamed as? Shifang Jungle College? , and published "knowledge" magazine. Although Mr Ran is getting busier every day, he is determined to carry forward the traditional culture of China and write a series of works handed down from generation to generation day and night. The Analects of Confucius, A Bypass of Mencius, Other Views of Laozi, Miscellaneous Comments on the Book of Changes, Biography of the Book of Changes, Historical Experience, the Development History of Buddhism in China, the Development History of Taoism in China, What the Diamond Sutra says, A Brief Introduction to the Jue Yuan Sutra, Zen Jungle System and China Society. The basic beliefs of a Buddhist student, how to practice Buddhism, his views on the classic "Ji Shi Jing" of pharmacists, and a little talk about the original university, a considerable part of which are the teacher's lecture records compiled by students. At the same time, Mr. Nan compiled and published Wei She Series, Ding Hui Chu Xiu co-authored with Mr. Nan, and published Poems of the Golden Year and Poems of Golden Poetry Couplets, which are really wonderful works. Mr. nan devoted his life to the public. How many people can there be in this life, like Mr. Nan?
Nan, a master of Chinese studies, tirelessly tells the story of life.
After Mr. Nan moved to Hong Kong, his residence became a hot spot. His proté gé s in Taiwan Province and the United States have frequent contacts, and political and business heavyweights from the mainland also visit from time to time. Zen monks from all over the world exchange letters and telegrams from time to time and ask each other questions. As always, Mr. Wang works tirelessly and treats each other warmly, and will reply to any letter. His situation is very touching. During his stay in Taiwan, Mr. Wang once asked for benefits, and Ma, Xiao, Cui Zhidao, Liao Zushu and other powerful people in Taipei all worshipped him. However, Mr. Wang never talks about politics, but only takes it as his duty to carry forward China's traditional culture. He never tires of learning, never tires of teaching, and practices himself to benefit all living beings in the world.
1993 On the third day of the first lunar month, the festive atmosphere of Nanputuo Temple in Xiamen was stronger than usual. Many mainlanders came from all over the country, and many people came from the United States, Canada, France, Taiwan and Hong Kong to attend a unique meditation here, including Li Chuanhong, chairman of Ge Wei primary and secondary schools, Yin Yanliang, president of Runtai Group, Su Zhicheng, director of Lee Teng-hui's office when he was president, and Wang Jinping, the Legislative Yuan. What is particularly striking is that at the repeated invitation of the abbot of Miaozhan in Nanputuo Temple, Mr. nan huaijin, the host of this meditation activity, returned to his native land for the first time after more than 40 years.
China's traditional study of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism contains extremely rich connotations of human life science. How to make it develop in modern society has always been an important topic in China's cultural undertakings, and Mr. Nan has been exploring and practicing it for decades. This meditation activity is Mr. Nan's practice in the form of seven sons of Zen Buddhism in the spirit of modern science. Zhao Puchu, Vice Chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and President of the Chinese Buddhist Association, personally sent a letter of congratulations, and the Xiamen Municipal Government held a large welcome banquet for this purpose. At the same time, Mr. Nan turned his attention to many fields directly related to social and economic development. On June 5438+1mid-October, 2004, Tsinghua University held a seminar for senior managers in Shanghai and invited Mr. Nan to give a speech. In his four-hour speech, Mr. Nan deeply analyzed the contemporary social trends and economic problems in China, and put forward the countermeasures to solve these problems. Mr. Nan's insight amazed all the guests present.
September 28th, 2005 is the 2556th anniversary of the birth of Confucius, a great sage. On this day, Mr. Nan was invited to give a wonderful speech to successful businessmen all over the country, and the topic was still China traditional culture. In his speech, Mr. Wang was eloquent and humorous, simple and thought-provoking. Mr. Wang brilliantly pointed out that many people still don't know what it means. Career? , among them,? Career? The definition of I ching clearly tells us, that is? What is the cause of the world? . Did he explain? When a person does one thing in his life, he will always contribute to the world and benefit everyone. It's called career. Just like Dayu's water conservancy, this is called career, so he is admired all over the world and his contribution will never be lost. It's not a career, it's a career. The business owners present here have done a good job and made a lot of money, but they are far from talking about their careers. ? The industrial and commercial predators attending the meeting were full of praise for Mr. Wang's incisive exposition, and they didn't really understand the meaning until today. Career? . A person in charge of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce said with emotion: I am in charge of a glorious cause. I checked Cihai, but I can't find it. Career? This word. Today, after listening to Teacher Nan's talk about China culture, I suddenly realized. ?
On August 4, 2006, Mr. Nan gave a lecture jointly sponsored by Wen Wei Po, Shanghai People's Publishing House and Shanghai TV Station. China Traditional Culture and Mass Communication? In the keynote speech, he put forward his own unique views on the challenges faced by the news publishing industry today. In his view, cultural people should first set a goal in life and be responsible for society. Press and publication should not be called media, but should be a cultural pioneer. He stressed that publishing should be quality-conscious. But does it spread much? And the purpose of education is to teach people to be human. People can't do it well, and even the best ideal goals can't be achieved, because things are done by people. In his speech, Mr. Wang encouraged modern people to read history, to have a unique vision, to understand what is behind the words, and to give more kind suggestions to the society. He pointed out that malicious criticism is easy, good suggestions are difficult, and feasible suggestions are even more difficult. Mr. Wang's four-hour speech made more than 200 people in the press and publication circles on both sides of the Taiwan Strait shine at the moment, and everyone was like drinking. ? In today's era, there is such a master of Chinese studies who is admired by everyone, devoting all his resources to continuing the great enlightenment since Confucius and Sakyamuni, and never stopping?
