Huangshi Library provides information services for enterprises, institutions and individuals in production and scientific research, and has achieved more than 20 remarkable service achievements. The library now has service windows such as book lending, e-reading, information consultation, automobile mobile service, clothing literature center, children's library and social service, which basically realizes computer network management, and readers can query online by themselves. There are 8 fixed-point mobile service points in the automobile library, which deliver books to these remote areas and special readers such as troops and prisons twice a month. The Social Activities Department offers counseling training courses such as adult college entrance examination and public English every year to recruit students for the society. Our library often holds library service publicity weeks, participates in "going to the countryside" activities, and sends readers and farmers information and materials to get rich.

After more than ten years of reform and opening up, the library has gradually adapted to the development of market economy, made full use of its own advantages and literature resources, and embarked on a new way of serving Huangshi's two civilizations in an all-round and multifunctional way, and achieved good social benefits. It has been rated as national, provincial and municipal advanced units for many times and awarded the title of "National Civilized Library" by the Ministry of Culture twice. 1995 and 1999 were rated as "first-class libraries" by the Ministry of Culture, "National Advanced Collective of Cultural Work" by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Personnel, "Readers' Favorite Library" by the National Leading Group of Knowledge Engineering in 2000 and "Top Ten Public Libraries in the Province" by the Provincial Department of Culture in 2006.
