1948 12 1 The People's Bank of China was established in Shijiazhuang, a liberated area in North China, and began to issue paper money, that is, the first set of RMB. This set of RMB * * * has a denomination of 12, with a maximum denomination of 50,000 yuan and a minimum denomination of 1 yuan. The words "People's Bank of China" on the ticket were personally inscribed by Comrade Dong, then Chairman of the People's Government of North China and in charge of the central financial and economic work.
